This is a small beach, but the only one in Knysna itself. Good swimming, in beautiful clear water, but very shallow. Good for launching a kayak. People are friendly, and the view is spectacular.

Situated on Leisure Island and not far from the heads, Bollard Beach is an ideal swimming beach.
White sand covered when high tide, there is a grass embankment and our children loved the swim here.
There's water buoys showing boats can't come too close, and it's enjoyable to see all them going past in the distance.
Free for anyone to stop and enjoy, there's also long walkways to the heads (maybe 3km long) to enjoy.

This small beautiful place is right at the location (Estuary) where river Knysna meets Atlantic ocean. It is an important tourist attraction in South Africa. On one side of the river is the town Knysna and the other side is a range of hills. We get an amazing view of the town, river and the actual meeting point (River and Ocean) from the top of these hills. A day's visit to this place is a good idea.

Great beach for kids. The kids have a absolute blast however the water has a slight stench to it, which qas the only thing to be wary of.

We’ve just had four most amazing days at the Bollard Bay house in Knysna. From the moment we arrived, the hosts Mike and Sarah welcomed us as if we were family. Their house is absolutely spectacular. The bedrooms are spacious and beautifully appointed with no detail overlooked. The beds are enormous! Seriously you can fit three in the bed. They have two beautiful swimming pools with comfortable sun loungers over looking the most unreal view of the bay. We woke to the smell of freshly baked vanilla muffins, and went into breakfast to be served fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals and your choice of cooked breakfast. Seriously 5star stuff. The cleaners are amazing, making sure your rooms are tidy and equipped with any toiletries you may need. The island is super secure and is absolutely amazing for early morning/evening jogs. Book early because I’m sure this amazing guesthouse gets booked early. Thanks so much for making our stay so memorable! The Gould’s, London. X

This lovely stretch of beach on Leisure Isle, is accessed via Cearn Road.Although there is no designated car park as such, there is ample space for parking off road, on the grass verge. Note that there are no ablution facilities either. Bollard Bay offers sheltered waters, ideal for children to paddle with beautiful views from the Heads, across to the Featherbed Reserve and towards town. Pack a picnic ( but leave your skottel at home as no braai fires are permitted) and enjoy the surroundings!

This is a lovely beach if you are looking for somewhere to swim that’s not too wavy. The water is shallow for quite a way out so ideal for families with small children. When we visited the beach it was also surprisingly quiet with only a few couples on it. However we still felt very safe here.
