We had rather a problem getting into the reserve which has a strange system whereby you insert the code on your ticket (from Polvo the nearby cafe) into a keypad and the warden operates the gate release - except it didn't happen. 30 minutes later with a lot of help from the wonderful manageress in Polvo we were in and it was worth it. Well marked paths climb through lush grounds to a viewpoint with spectacular views over Knysna and across the islands in the bay to the Indian Ocean. Abundant birdlife including a sparrowhawk which perched only feet from us. Plentiful benches by the ponds and throughout. Take a book and relax then have coffee and a muffin in Polvo

Last visit was 12 years ago when it was in its heydays and the entrance was free. They now charge R20.00 per head which would be reasonable if standards had been maintained sadly this is not the case, notwithstanding the devastating Knysna fire some14 months ago there is little evidence of any meaningful reconstruction or improvements. The Municipality needs to allocate funds and labour if this once special haven is to be returned to its former glory nature alone will not be enough. Municipal officials earn big salary’s in Knysna some in the region of R I million per annum plus, the beleaguered ratepayers deserve a lot more than the pedestrian situation currently on offer.

It's a nice way to spend an afternoon in the outdoors. There are walks that you can do and places to go and have a picnic. The reserve is well kept and clean.

Went on a guided walk which was great although a little limiting. Would prefer to go alone so as to continue at my own pace. Great little getaway in the middle of Knysna. Easy walking and perfect for those who want some peace and nature while not having to do a strenuous hike

This a great little reserve mostly under forest with easy walks, wish I'd had enough time to explore whole area! The staff should be better educated on things as you are required to pay a small entry fee. Lovely little diversion into nature!
