The drive along the famous Garden Route from Mossel Bay, Wilderness, Sedgefield, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, The Crags, right through to Tsitsikamma is worth every moment spent. The Tsitsikamma National Park is a spectacular place to stay and very reasonable. The sound of the waves breaking...More

We recently spent an all-too-short five nights along the Garden Route driving east to west. Along the way we enjoyed visiting sanctuaries devoted to inappropriately-domesticated monkeys and large cats as well as a sanctuary for injured elephants near Knysna. We saw a number of Right...More

We went for a beautiful (although sometimes very steep) walk through the forest and down to the sea in Kranshoek. The views were magnificent, and I would highly recommend it. Small entry cost to the area.

I plan driving the garden route on september. Do you recommend driving east to west, or west to east?

Either way would be fine. It also depends on your destination airport.
Did you have to pay any conservation fees? if so how much ?. Thanks

No there were no fees to pay.
Just a question about the park fees as it's not clear on SAN website. We are driving the route from East to West. Do we need to pay separate fees for all 3 areas or is it a case of paying one fee for Tsitskamma and not paying for the others? Which is the best part in case we need to sacrifice something because of the time and extra cost of visiting all 3?

We only visited 1 park (Tsittsikamma Storms River) and there was a fee of R196 about £11
