Incredible group of women and wonderful insight into the township life. Would not miss this one! Ella, Penny, and Lynne do a wonderful job not only giving you insight into the township life and the strugles that are currently in these areas - but also provide hope for a future. As they honestly share with the struggles of this community,... More

This gave us a great insight into Township life and we had many opportunities to take photos. We stopped at a local shop, haridressers and drove past the library, hospital and local schools in the township. We enjoyed our time at Ellas and had a cup of tea in her house with her extended family and learnt some Xhosa words... More

We spent the morning with Ella and Lynn. Not only did we get to see the township, but also had a chance to meet the people and hear their stories. Being able to stop, take pictures and chat with the people gave you a true insight into their culture. Here is a community that couldn't be more welcoming. Ella, coming... More

We spent a few hours with Ella and Lynne in August. We stopped in the pre-school, in the library and in the hospital without this impression of voyeurism. We finished the tour in Ella's house where she takes care of 10 children at the moment. We had tea together and learnt some words in xhosa and played the djembe together.... More

This township tour gives you a good insight view in how life in the knysna township is. We've been driven around and had plenty possibilities to ge out and intact with the local community... It's a safe way to visit te township and a real eye opener for those who've never been in a township. And don't worry. It's not... More

This was one of our best experiences in South Africa...cannot rate it highly enough. Especially, if you enjoy children and dogs:) Both of the ladies are very friendly. They take you to see first-hand the actual living quarters and people living in the neighborhoods. First-rate cultural experience

Our guide Penny showed her caring and passion for the children that she has taken under her wing. The 3 hour tour is of the townships in Knysna where we were driven around looking at the houses in the area & visiting locals who have started businesses as hairdressers, shoe repairers, and also visited the local library. Also on the... More

We were ambivalent about going on this tour which had been recommended to us by friends. Having driven by the outskirts of the townships which looked impoverished and depressing we were concerned that this trip might be an exercise in uncomfortable voyeurism. Not a bit of it; we loved hearing about the history of the townships; seeing the new building... More

My family experienced a great tour by Ella whilst touring the Garden Route. Fantastic opportunity to learn about the history of this country and the personal experiences of those affected by apartheid. Ella is inspirational in her work and the kids really enjoyed spending some time with her brood, trying to drum and hearing the language. Highly recommended

An excellent opportunity for people who want to catch a glimpse at the living conditions of black people in Knysna; whether these are typical for South Africa has to be found out by further visits of other townships. By the very personal tour one can experience the improvement in living conditions of black people, but one can also get an... More
