We were two couples who visited the market during Dec 2019. A long story short, it is well worth a visit.
There are lots of stalls selling graft goods and lots of food stalls to pick and choose from. Also a number of the best wine sellers of the region represented.
The vibe is festive and good.
The only negative is the limited seating in the busy holiday period in Dec.

... on a Saturday morning in the Overberg ~ The Hermanus Country Market:
A happy and lively morning market where you will find informed, passionate stall holders and enthusiastic happy visitors from all over, excellent coffee prepared by a well known local owner and barista, wonderful artisan breads baked by a lover of this art; he is very serious about this bread baking thing - you can actually taste how serious. There are special pesto's by an afficionado introducing your palate to new inventions and even more foodies than you can count on your fingers waiting to help you taste their wares and decide what you like best... There are Books, of course, and Paintings and mini home truths: motto's and repartee's in English and Afrikaans to keep us all in stitches. Further on beautiful Nguni skins and other leather products next door to delicately sewn items as well as clothes for babies, kids and grown-ups. And this is not even the half of it ...

It is a place where family and friends can gather round a table with everybody's favourite breakfast - as wild as you could go from pancakes to spareribs guys. Tea, coffee, home brewed beer or juice and more, to be enjoyed with wonderful live music played by professional musos. There are writer's selling their own books, local 'know-alls' who will tell you about it and best of all, there is a private mode of transport for the young ones - actually a few carts-with-seats and a tractor in front, driven by an entrepreneurial dad leisurely traveling through the stalls while other dads and mums enjoy some free time to browse at those stalls for organically grown veggies, plants of all kinds and a young man and his wife selling the lovely pieces of furniture he makes from hardened pine and beautifully crafted wattle into art ...

And there is parking galore in the shade of age old pines where you could put up the table you just bought, spread the blanket someone crotcheted for you and drop the cushions of your choice on it, while you partner and the kids unpack the just bought basket filled with the newly-found favourite foods with aromas teasing all your tastebuds.
Come tell me this is not close to perfect for family minded peeps, for hungry tourists in need of special mementos, even for you and me stocking up on delicacies to last us a week. Looking for yours truly? You'll find me at the Hermanus Country Market most Saturday mornings while here in the beautiful Overstrand, enjoying the company of good friends against the backdrop of fine music ...

My favourite Saturday morning outing. Here I buy my organic veggies and fruit, artisan bread, herbs, treats like pesto & home made cheeses, and also get to enjoy the interaction with the local community. Buy and enjoy Hermanus's fine ines with breakfast (yes, even MCC bubbly) brunch or lunch.
And then there is some excellent crafts too. Not the same old stuff that you buy at most markets. Interesting, well crafted arts and crafts.
Tye only negative that I can think of is the fact that it closes as 1pm. Organizers, let it roll on untill people (visitors as well as stall owners) want to leave, not at a set time.

We are from George and always heard about this great market walking through the market and the great wine we decided to try the Sharma stall. The vegetarian option was written on a board and decided to go for that option. I paid and got my ticket. When my order was packed I could see through the Glass that the mushrooms, corn and coriander was not added to the Sharma. I asked the owner if I can have the order as advertised I rudely said to me that he is very busy and do not have all the ingredients any more. I asked then how can he still advertise it because that is misleading. His response was that he is the owner of the stall and can do whatever he wants and do I want it or not because he is very busy. Wow what a shocker. Being so rude and false advertising. Good luck for a person like this running a business. It's like ordering a cheese sandwich but getting chicken mayo.. our whole wibe was changed. He is a bad contribution to the market.

Whether you want to buy organic deliciousness, delight in discovering a vegan stall (try their falafel pita) or just want to sit and sip coffee while the place buzzes around you, this is one of the loveliest markets I've visited in the Western Cape. Eclectic mix of stalls, stall holders and visitors me the perfect way to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday morning in Hermanus.

This is not the only market in Hermanus on a Saturday morning, all though it is one of my favourites. It brings the locals together, displays a wonderful array of locally produced products, from fresh fruit and veg to eclectic dishes from local food stall owners. family friendly, with a safe playground for kiddies, while parents can keep an eye from close by. Do make sure to go early if you want the fresh produce since it can become quite busy !

Whatever you do don't eat before you visit this market as it's the law for everyone to have their breakfast at this venue. Lots of food stalls as you would imagine but very traditional and colourful. It also worked out quite handy for watching a bit of cricket whilst others shopped.
