What an experience. We took the Power Van to Grootbrak River due to the tracks being damaged on the mountains. What an experience. The tourleader lady has so much knowledge on the area and mountains. The nature, scenary and mountains are stuniing. The Van goes...More

I love travelling by train because it takes you places in the countryside where cars cannot go. The OVP departs from the Transport Museum and goes through George Station pass houses and farms. It then goes over the Gwaing river and Maalgate bridge. It then...More

We were visiting the Transport Museum as part of our organised tour of South Africa. Quite honestly I wasn't quite sure what Outeniqua Power Vans were, but we all had a great experience and our coach met us at the far end of the track....More

We booked to go on the Outeniqua power vans- took grandparents and great grands and made it a big family outing. It was interesting for the adults but not so much for the children. The tour stops kind of in the middle of nowhere when...More

We had our children and grandchildren visiting, with the two brothers aged 11 and 3 years having their birthday in the same week. Whilst the younger boy is presently a keen follower of Thomas (the train) and Friends, we thought a visit to the real...More

This was our second time with the Power Van. It was as fantastic as I remember the first time. Beautiful scenery and great commentary. Loved the stop at the top for something to eat and then down again.

Many years since we last did this trip - I had forgotten how good it was. Rubbish on the line spoiled the start, but once clear of the city it was magnificent. We almost decided not to go because of the mist and rain, but...More

Ours was booked by the tour operator, only one way, did not return, took approx 45 minutes from Transport Museum (which is worth seeing), so would contact the museum to arrange a trip. Enjoy!

The trips are arranged by demand - if there is only a slight demand the trip is cancelled and people moved to a fuller trip. It’s half day.
