They pick you up at 6 am (the driver was very nice and the ride to Aquila was very pleasant), then when you arrive you have welcome drink and breakfast and start with the ride around the reserve around 10-10.30 am. It's a 2,5 hour ride where you get to see the animals but mostly from very far away (except... More

Went here for a day trip when we were in Capetown and I would highly recommend it, if you have never been to a game reserve before like myself it will be really enjoyable. We were picked up at hotel about 6 am for the two hour drive through beautiful scenic mountainous countryside. When we arrived at Aquila we were... More

I was glad I got to see some interesting animals but I must say that I was little disappointed with the entire thing. There are only 2 elephants, 3 giraffes, multiple zebras, 3 rhinos, one hippo, bunch of animals like impala and antelopes, and I would say 7-8 lions. We didn't even get to see the one hippo they had... More

We needed one more drive before leaving South Africa. This reserve is small and lions caged however we hired a private bus (8 of us and the other vehicles held about 18 people!) We saw the elephants, giraffes, zebra, lions Best part was the animal recovery centre and our guides. We also had an express Pedi at the spa -... More

Ok.....so if you want to go on an actual safari holiday Iike Kenya then you can, you can spend two full weeks searching for animals for 8 hours a day which Iam sure is a fantastic experience.....Aquila however is a scaled down version and if like us your in Cape Town exploring the sights and wanted to see some animals... There is nothing wrong with this reserve and having done several safaris elsewhere, like Shamwari and Kruger a couple of times , it is not like the real thing for several reasons. There were far too many jeeps heading out at the same time which made it very commercialised . The jeeps are huge with closed tops and sides ,not... More

Six of us went on this safari, though we all booked in separate groups. What a waste of a day's holiday and way too over priced. We were told we would be collected between 5.30am & 6.00am. Had to ring the contact number we had @ 6.10am to enquire where the driver was, who then arrived @ 6.16am. We then... More

Recently stayed overnight in a Luxury cabin, and the stay included two safari runs. This is not a true safari game reserve, as they keep the Lions separate from all the other animals, having said that we got some awesome photos of the animals on the evening safari, as they had just gone round to put out the feed for the... Breathtaking to see the big 5 in a natural setting. The highlights were the baby rhino, the elephant and the giraffe. There are not dozens of each animal but it takes a lot of scrub to support elephant. Everything was well organised, pick up at the hotel, breakfast on the reserve before going out for a 3 hour safari and... More
