I did the Cape Town Walking and Cookery tour. I saw a albino squirrel on the way! Loved my guide/photographer Jaco Beukman. We had lots of fun. The tour culminated with me learning how to cook delicious Cape Malay cuisine and going to heaven with Faldela Tolker's food! I photographed everything and will post it on my blog.

My wife and I had a brilliant day in the company of Liza de Villiers, this organisation's (also known as Pangolin Photographic) Head Photo Guide. It starts early (8.00am from central Cape Town) and we got back to our hotel at 4.30 pm. Not one minute of that 8.5 hours did we regret! As well as being a very knowledgeable guide, Liza is just a lovely human being, very helpful with all aspects of photography, from the technical bits on the cameras to the composition of the photographs. She provided a well balanced day, with appropriate levels of commentary and guidance on the sights and places we visited. She judged us well and didn't bombard us with stuff we didn't want to or need to know but we felt we learnt a great deal about the environs of Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula on our day with her.
First stop was Muizenberg for the coloured beach huts, then on to Kalk Bay for the fishing boats, seals and waves. Next stop was the Boulders Beach penguin colony before lunch of Kingklip and chips in Simonstown, where a glass of the local beer goes down very well. After lunch we proceeded down to the Cape of Good Hope and then Cape Point where we saw a variety of local fauna and flora and visited the lighthouse before returning north via Chapman's Peak Drive (often used in the movies, including the opening sequence of "Skyfall") for views of Hout Bay.
If you need a little help with your photography (or perhaps even if you don't) then we would highly recommend Liza. You'll have a great day.

I was alone in the Mother City looking for some kind of photographic meetups or else and found this Cape Town Photo Tours. The offer was appealing to me, for the price obviously, for the chance to use an extra telephoto lens (since I only had 2 wide angles with me), but also for the experiences they were promising on their site. And they delivered! I was lucky enough to be there before the high season so I ended up being alone with the guide Jaco. He is so in love with Nature he accompanies the travels from one place to the other with a lot of anecdotes and facts on fynbos, fauna, local areas and places to visit in Africa... with such passion that you can only listen, be amazed and fall in love with Cape Town. We went out for the Chase The Sun Peninsula Tour and I took some of the best pictures of the whole holiday there (a couple are on my Instagram: fabienb) but as much as the tour I really enjoyed the interaction with such a passionate guide. If I'll ever go back to Cape Town I'll do it again, for sure. Thank you so much.

Thanks to Safari365 for recommending this and booking it.
I chose the private tour of the Cape Peninsula, and was met at my hotel by Jaco. being a private tour, gave me the opportunities to spend as long or as little as we slowly made out way anti clockwise around the cape. Leaving Sea Point, the first stop was Muizenberg. Jaco was great, both a guide and photographer, gave great information, and knowledge, as well as some nice composition tips.
From here was on to Fish Hoek, a wonderful fishing village with unique photo opportunities, of fishing vessels, fish market, seals, as well as a stop for early lunch, with (as a Brit) a fantastic Fish and Chip lunch.
We continued south to Simonstown. A small village home to the famous Boulders Beach that hosts the African Penguins. Wonderful settings and backdrops as hundreds of these crazy looking birds bask, wander around, seemingly oblivious to the small group of tourists or photos being taken.
several hundred shots later we left for the national park, heading to the Cape of Good Hope. passing Grysbuck, a colourful spring landscape of flowering bushes, little lizards and great scenery. The Cape itself is a great photo opportunity with flocks of cormorants, gulls and seals.
The winding coastal road back to Cape Town offered spectacular photo opportunities of beaches, cliff tops and scenic landscapes.
A perfect day and trip, I would even recommend this for any level of photographers as a fantastic way to navigate the unique area of the Cape Peninsula. Such variety all in one day.
Thanks Jaco for making this a memorable experience.

My daughter and I signed up for the sun peninsula tour, hoping to see the penguins on the beach and upgrade our skills with Canon DSLRs before visiting Kruger National Park. We ended up with a private tour with Jamie , who is a fabulous tour guide and photographer. She taught us how to move away from the automatic settings of our cameras and gave us confidence to use AV mode-a great upgrade for the rest of our week in South Africa. The weather was wonderful, the scenery spectacular (we especially enjoyed seeing whales, seals, a baboon and an ostrich) and Jamie knew exactly when/where to stop to avoid crowds and capture the most beautiful moments at each stop. For the same price as the Springbok/Atlas big bus tour, we got a personalized tour of the best attractions at the Cape. It was a marvelous, unforgettable day. Thanks, Jamie!!!!

I did 2 different tours with Cape Town Photo Tours.
The first was the 'Cape Town walking tour and cookery class' and the second was the 'Chase the sun - peninsula tour'.

I think that Cape Town Photo Tours is quite unique as there are not many 'photo tours' being offered in Cape Town. With this tour you get to see the beauty of Cape Town while practicing one of your favourite hobbies
Jaco was our guide on both the days and he was awesome at showing us useful tips on how to use our cameras get great shots straight away. He was also full of interesting knowledge about Cape Town and it's history.

My highlight was visiting the vibrant and colourfull houses of the Bo Kaap district, followed by the Cape Malay cooking class in the house of Mrs Faldela Tolker. We made our own local Cape Malay food and Fadela's humor and bubbly personality definitely made it a highlight of the trip.

I would recommend Cape Town Photo Tours to anybody interested in photography and wanting to see the highlights of Cape Town.
From complete beginners to novice photographers, Cape Town Photo Tours are for everyone!

I loved this tour, and enjoyed every moment of it. And had a lot of fun with Jaco. Also the great thing about this tour is that you can borrow their camera if you don't have your own.

Many thanks for a great day on the Chase the Sun Peninsula Tour. The views were stunning, and Jaco was excellent and very patient with an very inept photographer. I now understand my camera much better and know what some of the features do. It has made me want to go out and practice more now I am home.
We went on two other tours and my photos certainly benefited from the helpful advice. Lunch was great and I loved the visit to Boulders Beach to see the penguins.
I highly recommend this tour whether you are a novice or competent photographer .

I have done photo workshops before, but never a photo tour.

We met our tour guide from Cape Town Photo Tours and other photography enthusiasts at the Cape Milner Hotel which struck me as boutique and quite beautiful. Jaco was the perfect guide. Young, informed, full of life and witty. He guided everyone to stay on schedule with regards to time without anyone feeling rushed. We all enjoyed his company tremendously.

The Chase The Sun Peninsula Tour is a full day package from about 10h00 until approximately 19h00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Taking into account that the sun goes down quite late in the Cape it was perfect.

While I revived my love for photography with my trusty Canon, my husband made use of the Samsung NX300 camera on offer. The awesome part is that while you get to play with a new camera, you take your pictures home on a memory stick at the end of the day. I thought that was kinda cool.

What I enjoyed most about the tour was the information shared by our guide, Jaco. His hint and tips at every stop as to camera settings along with events or interesting stories from the area made the experience personable. It was wonderful that neither my husband or I were driving, so we could both focus totally on our surroundings and the beauty of the Cape. A simplistic lunch of fish and chips was very appropriate and absolutely delicious in taste and I loved listening to the locals chatting around us. Very funny characters!

Be prepared for a change of weather so bring along a light jacket or dress in layers.

Best to wait to the bigger tourist attractions to use the bathrooms and the public facilities are not very pleasant.

We received bottled water when the trip started and my husband and I bought ice cream at Boulders Beach, sold by a local from their garage. It added to the tourist in your own country feeling.

Also, note that it is a bit of a walk up to the lighthouse at Cape Point. I had never been before and may have chosen better shoes had I known. You can make use of the funicular for a 3 minute ride to the top should you wish. 286 metres above sea level took me lots longer to walk! Still I am glad my husband encouraged me to. It was beautiful up there. The ocean carries on forever.

Entrance to all destinations are included in your tour price, along with lunch.

Our stops included:

Muizenberg Beach
Kalk Bay
Simon's Town & Boulders Beach
The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve & Cape Point
Chapman’s Peak Drive

The tour is relevant for both local photography lovers, as well as tourists. While locals may see these scenic views often, it does not come with the group dynamic, interesting stories and tips of somebody in the know. For tourists it would be fantastic to see the attractions and take awesome pictures along the way.

Do something you have never done before!
