Four beaches, white sand, blue water and sunshine galore. Go early as Clifton is popular in summer. Get a beach umbrella, find a spot on the white sand and relax for the day. The water isn't warm but on a hot day there is nothing...More
I spend summers at my Uncles beach cottage located onthe edge of the small peninsula that juts out into the ocean from it's base on the shore of 4th beach, so I know it well.
This is a very interesting beach with a wide variety...More
I have been coming to Clifton beaches for the last 40 years. One of the most beautiful beach on the Planet, in the middle of an amazing city, Cape Town, with Lion's Head as a backdrop, wind sheltered, and soft fine sand. What more could...More
Although the highlight of the beach is the views, it gets very full, parking is a nightmare and shops are too busy to contend with the influx of holiday makers in my opinion. Best to reserve bookings and take advantage of making your way to...More
Easy access means these beaches are very popular but not overcrowded. Sunloungers and parasols are plentiful. Though there is no cafe you won’t go without refreshment as beach vendors abound. There’s no hard sell or pestering though. Pity the sea is so cold!
Clifton beach has different zones but try to go early enough to catch a good spot as it does tend to get crowded. The water is freezing though all year around so do not expect to get a comfortable swim.
With 4 beaches to choose from and all with a white beach and clean sea you are for sure going to enjoy your dat at the beach. If you are not staying close by and can walk there, parking will be a problem over peak...More

I might suggest trying to put Table Mountain earlier in your trip. I sometimes happen that the cable cars get shut down, due to wind or cloud cover. So if this were to happen earlier in your vacation, you could reschedule, however you might be out of luck if you plan on visiting towards the end of your vacation. Otherwise it looks like a nice rounded trip.
Clifton Beaches (8 Replies)
Hi, We will be in Cape Town in February 2017 and would like to spend a day at the beach. We have visited Camps Bay before and found it windy and exposed. Which Clifton Beach would you recommend ? Is there one that has sunbeams and umbrellas to rent ? and perhaps a restaurant with toilet facilities close by ? I know from previous visits that parking in that area is difficult at the best of times and so we thought we would get a bus, or take a taxi/uber . Which would you recommend ? We will...More

My Cape Town Itinerary- Suggestions and input please. (14 Replies)
Hi Guys! My husband and I will be in Cape Town November 15-19 (so excited!) and we have a good idea of how we want to spend our days but I'd love some input. Is this a good plan? Are we missing anything that we don't have here? Some background info... We're 31 and love to eat and drink wine and we're both very into health and fitness. Not too interested in museums or nature (we are to a certain degree but I wouldn't enjoy bird watching or searching for flora). We will be in Johannesburg,...More

Hi My first comment would be that you are eating at some very nice restaurants but can you manage full lunches and dinner? I take it that you’re driving to Hermanus from the airport. Not sure what time you land? But if you have time, you could drive via the R44/ Clarence Drive through Betty’s Bay to look at the scenery. That would then leave you time on your way back to visit Elgin, a much less visited wine area, but boy do they make good, cooler climate Wines. It’s also apple country...More
