We spent a great morning/afternoon learning to make a delicious meal. The whole class was hands-on, and we really enjoyed learning to fold the samosas and roll out the roti. Everyone was friendly and everything tasted fantastic. As New Yorkers who love cooking and Indian food, we were so glad we were able to fit this into our trip. Highly... More

Where do i start? Lekka was very welcoming, funny, and just an overall great spirit. She walked us around Bo Kaap giving us the history of the area, and taking us inside some of the stores. She made us feel right at home. She taught us how to make curry chicken, roti and samosas. We spent quite a bit of... More

This was my first time doing something like this. It was amazing! It was amazing getting to know someone who actually lived in the area and to get a local perspective. It was great to hear about her background and get to know more about how she came to the Cape area!

What a super way to taste local Cape-Malay food in the home of Gamidah! She is super fun and shared some simple, super delicious recipes. I even made my first samosa! Can't wait until I am next in Cape Town to go there again! :-)

I went with a group of nine travelers to Gamidah's for a cooking demonstration last evening. I was not sure what to expect, but it was wonderful! She not only taught us how to cook the chicken curry, roti and chili bits, she also made us prep it, and cook it. She also sent us detailed recipes and I will... More

Had a fab day cooking with Lekka in her home, she made us extremely welcome. It was so much fun making the samosa's and roti's. We got to eat our rewards afterwards which were fantastic. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone. You are doing a fantastic job Lekka.

I did the tour and then the course. In the tour we learned a little about the history of the area and then visited the local indoor shop/market to learn more about the spices. We were shown the exterior of the mosque but I would have loved to have had the opportunity of going inside one. The dishes we made... More

Gamidah showed us warmth and hospitality right from the start. We started off with a brief introduction and history lesson to the area and Gamidah took us to all the Gems within the Bo-Kaap. We then started with the cooking class. We made Rotis, Samoosas, Chicken curry and Chilli Bites. Everything was so delicious.

We have been twice to Gamidah Jacobs cooking course and it is just a perfect thing to do in the BoKap if you want to learn about the culture, traditions and the food up in this part of Cape Town. She usually starts with a short walk including a visit to the oldest Mosque - after that the cooking starts... More

My wife and I had a fabulous time during our cooking class with Gamidah. We immediately felt at home and learned so much about the cooking, culture and history of South Africa. This experience gets two thumbs up from us!
