A great opportunity to test your skills under close supervision from skilled instructors. This was our 5th and latest visit. Plenty of choice on which gun to shoot in a very safe environment.....

My son and I have just had the pleasure of using the new indoor shooting range at City Guns and we are mightily impressed with the facilities. The lighting is perfect, excellent ventilation and ear and eye protection is also available. I’ve not been able to get to any local indoor shooting ranges in the Cape Town area for many years and when I do shoot I have to go through to the open air range in Atlantis. City Guns range is so central and parking is dead easy at Chris Barnard Hospital plus, being situated in a gun shop, I can buy my rounds and any other goods I might need right there. Eddie and the rest of the staff at City Guns are an absolute pleasure to deal with and are always ready with a bit of advice and help. I’m definitely going to spread the word and my son and I will be back soon.
Warmest Regards,
Mark Richards,
Edgemead, Cape Town.

My son discovered this place before we went. It's very conveniently located and has nice collection of guns.

They offer you packages to choose from to practise/shoot. Staff were very friendly and the range is located in a building basement.

I tried the AK47, Shotgun & Pistol package. Trainers area knowledgeable. Sometimes you need to take prior appointments.

Overall nice place if you like to shoot guns.

I bought a Glock. Martin assisted me very well. When it came to obtaining my competancy certificate the service at the shooting range downstairs was shocking in respect of writing the test and getting the certificates.

Visited here on first day in Cape Town.

Unfortunately the Desert Eagle and AK firearms were unavailable, as they had run out of ammunition.

However Eloise at the front desk suggested an alternative package, which turned out great.

The range instructor was absolutely excellent, extremely patient and super enthusiastic.

He definitely went out of his way to ensure I had a great experience, gave me loads of information about everything from the ammunition to the firearms. He let me load the magazines myself and also took an excellent video of my shooting.

Highly recommend this range - the experience is excellent

I'm a solo female traveller and always wanted to try shooting and gun fun was the perfect place for me to give it a go. I went for the 007 package - I was a bit worried that I couldn't handle the kickback but it was fine. All the guns were great, and the only one with a bit of kickback was the pump action shotgun - but that one turned out to be the most fun! The staff will take you through the basics of shooting and you'll have googles and ear muffs on so the noise isn't a problem. Just a note that you need to go into the city guns shop on hout street and that gun fun is downstairs. Lastly, I can't shoot these kindof guns in australia in a shooting range so it was a bit of a rare experience for me. Highly recommend. :)

In the hostel I found a flyer for Gun Fun in de Houtstreet - down town Cape town.
For bout 50 euro you can fire 3 different types of arms, after you had a good and serious instruction by the instructor.

As I have shot guns as a sport in the past (I never gunned down any animal in my life!!), I can acknowledge that the instructor did a good job.
You also can save the Rhino by shooting some guns: if you reach a certain score, the Gun Fun will make a financial contribution to the Rhino-saving project.
If you do not reach it, YOU need to make a financial transaction. Good suggestion!

I shot the AK47 (Mr. Kalashnikov died a week later in real life - a coincident!), a H&K 9 mm and a pump-rifle: Beware for your shoulder - ear protection is delivered. Ammunition was 35 eurocents a round.

I enjoyed the possibility to shoot some in a safe environment, without needing to arrange all kinds of official paperwork....just guns for fun.

In most of the UK people cannot shoot a handgun. Reserved for police and military. (Northern Ireland is the exception.)
This place allows tourists from UK and elsewhere to enjoy shooting handguns and bigger.
Visiting from the UK we had a great time at City Guns. Able to shoot a variety of guns for a reasonable charge. Instruction and guidance makes this suitable for beginners.
You can even bring kids aged 10-17 for a shooting experience with real guns under expert supervision.
Friendly reception, great instruction and oversight from Ashley. And Sean in the shop is very likeable and helpful.
Street parking nearby is 60min max so we parked in a multi-story on Strand Street (orange signs). When we arrived it seems the venue has its own free parking, so do enquire.
We will be back.

It’s a must when you got the opportunity. Fabulous experience. Shoot with powerful weapons. It’s just WOW. I highly recommend. According prices, I would advise to take the packages. The personal is very friendly. Special thanks to Mr. John...
