We spent a wonderful day with a local, Katherine, who not only knew all kinds of interesting and varied places to try different cuisines, but seemed to know everyone on the street, their story, the history of every restaurant and shop. It was fascinating. I'd recommend this for one of your first days in town since you'll visit many neighborhoods and get a feel for where you'd like to go back. From street food to real home cooking (on the roof of the train terminal where few tourists are to be seen) to local gin tasting to biltong sampling to a young chef turning out French quality pastries but with local touches, to a Sengalese coffee shop owner with an amazing story, etc. Most of what we experienced was not something we would have ever found on our own. Katherine and Pam (owner) also gave us great tips for where to have a reasonably priced drink on the seaside, where to eat in Franschoek, where to look at quality crafts. A real eye opener to a great city by people who know it super well.

Let’s get the details out of the way right up front. Cape Fusion Tours follows all COVID protocols, it is well priced, communicates well with its client base, and its employees are reliable, honest, and on time. Now, down to the more personal side of things…
Cape Fusion Tours was an extremely fortunate find! Little did I know when I Googled “Culinary Tour Cape Town” that I would find the answer to most of my questions and wishes for our Cape Town vacation. When I clicked on the search result, I found Cape Fusion’s web site to be a bit different from that of other tour companies. There are not “click here to reserve” or other formulaic features. It simply tells the story of the company, its people, and what it has to offer in terms of helping you fall in love with Cape Town. The site also offers guidance on touring in Cape Town and other information that visitors would find helpful (no strings attached). If one of Cape Fusion Tour’s offerings appeals to you, it is easy to contact the company and ask whatever questions you have (pricing, availability, potential tour “tweaks” that might be possible, advice, etc…).
When I contacted the company via email, I was answered by Cape Fusion Tours’ owner and founder - Pamela. She not only answered all of my questions promptly, she also offered advice for other things I might want to do while in Cape Town. When we decided to book with her company, she ensured that she was aware of all our preferences and interests so that we could get what we wanted out of the tour – it was tailored to us! Also, when other arrangements (with other companies) I had made for tours fell through, she offered solutions and guidance and helped us find an alternative so that our vacation would not be derailed. I must admit that I sent her far too many emails. However, she answered each quickly and graciously.
We were only in Cape Town for a short while, but booked Cape Fusion Tours for two, full day tours. I am so glad we did! Our tour guide for each of the tours was Ryan. Ryan is not only very knowledgeable, he is kind, conscientious, approachable, and (best of all) flexible. It is apparent that Ryan enjoys his job, loves Cape Town, and works for an organization that values people and experiences over money and cookie cutter tours. We connected with Ryan almost immediately and I assume that all of his guests do – he’s just that kind of guy.
Though COVID has slammed the hospitality and tourism industry, Cape Fusion Tours has ensured that the accommodations it must make to “remain afloat” during these trying times have not adversely affected the product and service it provides. If I am ever fortunate enough to find myself back in Cape Town, Cape Fusion Tours will be my first call.

Thank you so much for the awesome review!! We loved having you and your Mom on tour with us. This review reflects everything about us. Thank you for catching our essence. We want to make sure you make the most of your time in our beautiful city and we do not hesitate to pass the booking on if we are the wrong fit!
You are quite correct about my guide Ryan. He loves what he does and it feels like you having an old friend on your with you. Every client who has ever had Ryan has loved having him with them.
You were his first tour bookings in more than a year. Thank you for getting him back on the road and for leaving your footprint with our company.

I was looking for an authentic look at street food in Cape Town during a trip my three friends and I have planned. We heard awesome things from some friends who took this tour about a year ago, so I reached out to the Cape Fusion day tours team to learn more about the tour and book a private tour for our group.
Chongo was so helpful and patient in answering my many questions, and assisting when I had issues with the online payment tool (I was getting some push-back from my bank).
Although we've not yet taken the tour I wanted to jump on and highly recommend the team at Cape Fusion. They made us feel well-cared for throughout the planning process and as someone traveling from across the world it b=put my mind at ease!
I'm planning on providing another review after we take the tour.

What a fabulous tour and guide! Shelly introduced us to the city, its culture, history and cuisine in a fun filled day where we sampled everything from small artisan bakery treats to biltong to a wonderful cape Malay experience at an art gallery. Her energy is inexhaustible. She kept us on the move, telling tales and imparting historical tidbits as we wound through town. Clearly a local personality, she was greeted as a friend by someone passing by on nearly every street corner. We finished our afternoon with a wine tour in historic Constanta Winelands where our group of six saw the sunset on a terrace looking out over a beautiful vineyard with a selection of reds and whites curated for our tasting experience. Don’t hesitate - book now and ask for Shelly!

We spent a great day in central Cape Town exploring some of the hidden gems of the city. Our guide, Ryan, was really informative and gave us the perfect balance of eating, drinking, history and exploring. So glad we only had a light breakfast and definitely didn’t need an evening meal! Definitely recommend this tour.

Pam was our tour guide for 2 days, and she really gave us the whole experience of Cape Town! We did the peninsula tour, as well as the Cape Winelands. Pam is so knowledgeable, and gave us so much history on our rides that really opened our eyes as tourists. She was easily able to read our interests and cater the tour accordingly to make it even more personal. The van was very comfortable with plenty of room, so much so that we often found ourselves nodding off on the way home after a long day of sight seeing! We really felt like we got to experience all of Cape Town, because there truly is so much to see. Pam even gave us lots of recommendations for the days we were not with her, and we got to visit most of them. It really made us feel like locals more than tourists to be able to find the hole in the wall spots. She also served as our personal photographer and gave us lots of great memories for our honeymoon. We really enjoyed chatting with her through all of the stops, and felt like we were on a visit with a close friend. We had so much fun touring with Pam, thank you!

The City Eats tour by Cape Fusion Tours was the best part of our trip to Cape Town. Our guide, Ryan, was the perfect person to walk us through a fascinating and tasty day in Cape Town. Ryan filled us in on all of the interesting details at each stop. He clearly has a passion for Cape Town’s offerings and his warmth and kindness made for a perfect time together. The unexpected bonus was finding unique and fairly priced gifts made by South African artists and craftsman along the way. Saying good bye to Ryan was like saying good bye to a good friend. Don’t miss this excellent tour!

Pam was recommended to us by a friend and booking with her was the best decision for our trip to Cape Town.
First, we booked the Cape Town eats food tour - and it was absolutely outstanding. Pam took us to 13+ stops, where we were able to sample unique, local treats at places we would never know to enter. What made the tour extra special is how Pam has cultivated relationships with every single vendor so it was a truly personalized experience. She explained the evolution of restaurants throughout Covid and how the city has adapted. This was not just a food tour…it was a cultural experience where we learned about the history of the city. We do food tours in every city we can and this tour was top notch. Pam is the best. You will leave super full and with a better understanding of South African food and culture. Could not recommend more for foodies!
The next day Pam took us on a full day Peninsula tour. We started off stopping at some amazing photo spots and then grabbing the best coffee at a local joint. We went to the cape of good hope (with some hiking and amazing views), boulders to see the penguins, and explored the beach towns. The drives were super scenic. Pam gave us a whole history lesson so we left knowing the old and modern history of South Africa. Fantastic tour and experience!

My husband and I spent the day with Ryan on an incredible tour of Cape Town. While the tour featured the various foods of the city, it also provided valuable information on the history and culture of the region. Ryan was friendly, knowledgeable and compassionate and was well known to everyone along the tour route. We sampled coffee, pastries,Cape-Malay specialties, biltong, chocolate, and enjoyed local South African cuisine at the train station. An excellent way to spend a day!

We always seek out a food tour wherever we are in the world and this was definitely a good one. Cath, our lovely guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, the history and the food we ate. Adapting to places that were closed due to us inadvertantly choosing a public holiday to have our tour on(!). Cath took us to some stunning places to eat amazing food. We were taken to off the beaten track, sometimes quirky, sometimes unusual but always interesting places.
We felt very safe walking some of the quieter streets as Cath engaged with the locals and appeared to be fairly well known in the area.
A really lovely way to spend the day enjoying and learning about the food and culture. As advised we came hungry (no breakfast at all as our tour started at 08:30) and left so full around mid afternoon.
It's a walking tour of 6+ hours but this is not arduous, it's a slow saunter with lots of stops to sit and eat (the advice of sunscreen and hats was good and as you're walking on streets/pavements then sandals are enough if you've not brought trainers) We had a cab to get us there so Cath conveniently walked us back in the direction of our hotel which made for a quick and easy return for us at the end of our tour.
Food sampled on our tour (but I understand each tour varies depending on what's open and what you like to eat): pastries, coffee, chocolates, cake, toasties, biltong, rooibos, cheesecake, Portuguese tart, Faeeza's delicious samosas and bhajis, ribs & beer, even a wine tasting.
Easy booking (direct by email) and great communication throughout for booking/payment/confirmation/reminder (thank you Chongo and Pamela!). We used their secure online payment method a few days before but there is the option to pay cash on the day too.
Overall: highly recommended and whilst not the cheapest your available, DEFINITELY great value for money (and if you book, can we come too please?!)

Hi James. Please can you email us and let us know how many people you will be with. The tours are private tours and as such the rate is dependent on the number of people. It does not want to allow me to put the email address here - so please

Can you also advise what date you are looking for? We are a small team and as such we sometimes have limited availability

What is the cost of the cape eats walking tour?
Written May 12, 2016
I actually have no clue how much it cost as it was included in our itinerary and booked by our agent. Call Pam at 27 21 461 2437 or send them a DM via Facebook. Have a wonderful time and don't forget to try the ice cream bunnychow!
