About
The Two Oceans Aquarium is a window into the spectacular oceans surrounding the southern African coast. Through displays ranging from the small and almost fantastical Knysna seahorses, to sea turtles and shoals of shimmering fish, the aquarium holds wondrous discoveries around every corner. Come face-to-face with giant spider crabs and have an adventurous tactile experience at the Touch Pool. Be sure to visit the I&J Ocean Exhibit, with its 9m long window, and 10m long full tunnel. Qualified divers can also make use of the opportunity to dive in this exhibit with shoals of fish and turtles. The Jelly gallery is sure to mesmerize and enthrall.

    Rainy day getaway
A wonderful way to spend a rainy day in Cape Town. Not too crowded on a weekday, but I imagine it being packed with kids on the weekend. Beautiful exhibits with jellyfish, turtles, sharks, penguins and stingrays among the attractions. A strong message throughout the experience was caring for our oceans and its inhabotants. Would reccomend to any ages and any constellation of visitors. We would gladly go there again in the not top far off future!

    Great aquarium!
We were a bit cautious of including this on our Cape Town itinerary, having read some of the reviews, however given the location (Waterfront) we thought if giving it a try. It was an excellent decision! The aquarium includes well designed exhibits with several large tanks where one can watch in awe stingrays, sharks and many other fishes. Our favorite part were the penguins. We spent close to 30 minutes watching the rockhopper penguins preening themselves, hopping around and swimming!

Really Good Quality and Value for Money
I was pleasantly surprised how good this aquarium was. The jelly fish display was very different. In the dark with the jellyfish illuminated. However my personal favourite was the large tank containing the sharks. Amazing, beautiful, powerful creatures seen up close. Also love seeing the hordes of kids on their school trip. So well behaved and well monitored.

Perfect hideout for a rainy day
Our Table Mountain plans were dashed on account of adverse weather and we didn't want to be cooped up in the hotel room with the kid. So suddenly planned to visit the aquarium. Tickets are available online. Tickets for visit after 3 pm are comparatively cheaper and you can easily see everything in 3 hours. The aquarium has plenty of marine exhibits including sharks, penguins, jelly fish and a variety of other fishes. The entire area in under 1 roof and you dont have to step outside. There is also a play area for children below 1.2m in height. We bought a family photograph package for R300.00 which included 3 photos and 2 key rings with our pictures. The souvenir shop was a delight. Dont forget to look at the seals basking on the pier behind the aquarium ( you don't have to enter the aquarium for this) . Overall a great day despite torrential rains.

    Diverse aquarium…a must see
We had such a wonderful time at the aquarium. You absolutely need to do the behind the scenes tour…ask for Bamanye, he’s been there 10 years and knows all the ins and outs of the aquarium. They have 3 huge aquariums to reflect different ocean ecosystems. The layout makes it so easy to navigate. Ask the guides what time the penguins “waddle”…it’s an experience you don’t want to miss. I can’t recommend this aquarium high enough. A must see!

    Very entertaining visit!
Very entertaining and interesting visit. The Aquarium is well run and has friendly staff. Displays are kept in good condition and are very informative. There's lots to do for the kids, but there are also plenty of attractions for anyone. The shop has a good selection of goodies. The location is also convenient, and there are restaurants and shops within walking distance. The tourist bus stops at the Aquarium.

    Go here no matter what
I recommend that tourists and tour guides put this on there list to Cape town. Even great with children there is a snack and drink bar near the big view goes great with drinking coffee . good location in Victoria and Alfred Waterfront or also referred to as V&A waterfront .And real life penguins which might go extinct in 2030 .

    Cool little aquarium
Was a cool little aquarium specializing in creatures in the waters in and around SA. The large tank, penguin area, and shark tank were particularly interesting. Definitely worth stopping by for an hour or two. Great spot for kids though was still interesting to me even though I didn’t have my kids with me on this trip.

    Enchanting
We took loads of photos and had a lovely time learning about different sea creatures. We were most excited to see the penguins and the sharks and ended up enchanted by the jellyfish and stingrays and the turtles swimming over us in the walkway. It was beautiful.

    Nice aquarium around the V&S
Nice aquarium around the V&A waterfront. The weather wasn't great in Cape Town, hence decided for an activity that was sheltered. The aquarium have a range of aquatic animals, along with specific activities during the day that is listed on a timetable as you enter. The most impressive display is the large tank which houses a range of sealife, the most impressive being a whale shark! Though the aquarium is nice, it was a bit smaller than I had anticipated so we were pretty much done within an hour and a bit surprised when we had reached the end. However, it is still a great place to visit especially when the weather isn't too great!

Very well kept aquarium and exhibits. Animals are very well taken care off. The ethos of Two Oceans aquarium can also be seen in the multitude of work that this organisation does around the Cape coast, through their help towards injured marine life and the preservation of our coastline and ocean. It is great to know that the entrance fee goes towards such a well kept educational and conservation organisation and aquarium. In a time where our marine life face huge threats, this aquarium and foundation is a shining beacon of light and hope. It is great that there are places such as these where we can help to nurture a passion for conservation in current and future generations. Highly recommend.

I would highly recommend this experience to anyone. You need to have a dive qualification to experience it but I would encourage anyone to go and get your Scuba diving qualification.Being underwater and so close to these amazing creatures seems so surreal. These ragged tooth sharks werent bothered by me at all. I respected there space and so did they. Sharks are so misunderstood and the more people learn about how amazing they are the better. Also, what made my dive even better was that I had an amazing dive guide with me. She made me feel so at ease. Once again, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We went on a Tuesday and it was extremely busy. We paid R470 for 2 adults. We thought we would be there for about 1.5 to 2 hours, but we were there for almost an hour as it's not big at all. If you have been to Ushake marine world in Durban, it's easy to say that the 2 oceans aquarium was a BIG let down and there was not much to look at. I wish I knew that the tour would be much shorter and that the correct entrance price was given online. It wasn't worth the money. It's difficult to give such a bad review as I love going to aquariums, and it was really a waist of money and I won't recommend it to anyone as you won't miss out on anything.

It’s a nice (SMALL) aquarium. I’m glad we went after 3 pm which provides discounted tickets as we went through the entire place in 1 hour. While it’s very nicely set up, maybe you need 2 hours if you’re reading and going through quite slowly but it’s definitely not a half day or full day activity.

Go after 3 pm for discounted you’ll have plenty of time. Nicely kept, fun tanks and fish to see for young kids. Don’t forget to go out back to see the seals 🦭

Coming to this aquarium was ok. Something to do with the kids when they were smaller. We were fortunate enough to visit the Lisbon aquarium and we were totally blown away and felt nothing could compare to that experience. So we came, prepared to be disappointed. However, the actual experience was the very opposite. We loved it. I cannot put my finger on what has changed. It is not the mind blowing experience of the Lisbon aquarium. Instead it felt more intimate and the staff went out of their way in welcoming us and making us feel like we were part of the marine family. They are doing fabulous work. Now we are thinking of becoming members. I loved that the Bootleggers is at the aquarium. Great addition.

Visiting the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront Cape Town is an experience you do not want to miss. Stepping into this wonderland teleports you to the mysterious and mesmerizing living world found within our oceans.

The aquarium’s atmosphere is calming, and the impressive exhibits showcase the diverse marine life found in both the Indian and Atlantic oceans. The beautifully designed displays, mimicking the animals’ natural habitat, feels like you are deep underneath the sea, peeking at the fishes through oversized windows.

You can purchase tickets at the door or on their website. You also have the option to buy an aquarium membership giving you exclusive benefits and unlimited access to the aquarium.

We went to the aquarium as a special treat for my son. He loved all the displays especially the jelly fish. His favorite fish were the sharks. I thought the lady with the microscope was as very interesting. She managed to keep my sons interest with her talk. I could have stayed and listened to her for hours. You could see she enjoyed what she was doing and was very knowledgeable. The only negative was that it was smaller than expected. But overall very good.
