About
The Two Oceans Aquarium is a window into the spectacular oceans surrounding the southern African coast. Through displays ranging from the small and almost fantastical Knysna seahorses, to sea turtles and shoals of shimmering fish, the aquarium holds wondrous discoveries around every corner. Come face-to-face with giant spider crabs and have an adventurous tactile experience at the Touch Pool. Be sure to visit the I&J Ocean Exhibit, with its 9m long window, and 10m long full tunnel. Qualified divers can also make use of the opportunity to dive in this exhibit with shoals of fish and turtles. The Jelly gallery is sure to mesmerize and enthrall.

Very well kept aquarium and exhibits. Animals are very well taken care off. The ethos of Two Oceans aquarium can also be seen in the multitude of work that this organisation does around the Cape coast, through their help towards injured marine life and the preservation of our coastline and ocean. It is great to know that the entrance fee goes towards such a well kept educational and conservation organisation and aquarium. In a time where our marine life face huge threats, this aquarium and foundation is a shining beacon of light and hope. It is great that there are places such as these where we can help to nurture a passion for conservation in current and future generations. Highly recommend.

We booked the 9am Kelp forest tank dive the day before online which was super easy. Its the only dive that they ask you to be at least Advanced open water and they will only take 2 divers in the tank at one time, which was perfect for us. The Aquarium itself doesn't open to the public until 9:30am so it was nice to be there before the crowds. We were met by Iain at 8:30am who was in charge of the diving and shown up to the dive centre. We passed by the Kelp forest tank and he explained to us the dive time and entry and exit procedures to make sure we were good to go. Once we got to the centre we filled out paperwork and he asked for our certification cards, if you forget they do have a laptop to check. He then sorted us out with equipment and a locker to keep your valuables whilst you are diving.
Once we were ready it was a short walk, to the kelp forest tank and it was then that we realised that there were penguins.
The entry was easy and once we were down Iain showed us around the tank and then just kept an eye on us as we enjoyed ourselves.
Iain had briefed us that if we wanted to get closer to the Penguins to come about halfway up, and so we did but after they discovered us they kept diving down and around us to the to the bottom of the tank!
The dive lasts for around 30 minutes in total but it is actually a really cool experience and one that we would defiantly enjoy again!
Iain was really nice and professional and as we left he told us to get our hands stamped as the dive also included entry to the aquarium for the day and i believe online they also have discounted rates for any family that come along with you but don't wish to dive.
If you are an advanced diver, this is something you HAVE to experience, and defiantly book the early dive if you can and don't forget the Go Pro!

This is not my first experience of the Two Oceans Aquarium. Firstly, let me say that this is one of my favourite venues to host my corporate events.

This time around though it was a special occasion. My girls' first time to Cape Town, we were visiting with my mentors who are (78 and 87 years old) and I wanted to share this with them too. The bonus is the pensioners discount, but the value outweighs the cost - because you're worth it. Being the week before Christmas I was expecting chaos and mayhem but we arrived early, just as they opened, and the holiday crowds only started pouring in after 11h30. It's also such a great way to spend a 'bad' weather day in Cape Town.

There are ways of booking online to avoid the "pees and queues" or lines if you're from the US of A. Bookings and savings are found at the little Red Bus Tours kiosk are available that could include things like the harbour tour or the Cape Wheel. Worth a look if you're a bargain hunter.

In comparison to the aquarium in Sydney Harbour, I believe we should be proud of the excellent level of engineering, design and execution of displays and even more so the volunteers and students who engaged my three daughters on environmental issues.

Even the adults (those over the age of 11) had a great time with thee fun and interactive "Kodak" moments. For those under 25, that's the equivalent of Instagrammable selfies.

My last point, that impressed me, my family was able to share this experience comfortably with folks with walkers. with the proximity of parking, easy access by wheelchair or walker made this experience something we will never forget.

I didn't want to give too much away about the beautiful displays in this review but we wish you an equally thrilling experience.

Kids always seem to love aquariums, and our kids loved this place. We wanted to try to the diving experience but they have limited time spots available. Technically, the aquarium does not have the true junction between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

It was an absolute amazing experience. Me and my girlfriend did the scuba diving experience with Josh being our instructor. Josh was absolutely amazing and had all the patience in the world getting us accustomed to the scuba gear as both of us dived for the very first time. His experience and instructions where clear and unmatched. A special thanks to Lehandri for all of the special arrangements and effort to make this an unforgettable moment. Well done to the team!!!!

The Padi Diving School at the Aquarium is exceptional. Totally world class, great equipment with the coolest people.

We had an amazing time doing our open water license. It’s a wonderful way to do the license, diving in the Aquarium with beautiful fish, building confidence to go out to ocean.

Absolutely brilliant experience, can’t recommend it more highly.

Thanks for the great time!

We (Mom + two kids age 9 and 11) recently visited the aquarium after a few years absence - we renewed our annual membership which is such good value for money - it basically pays for itself after just 2 visits AND you get to contribute to the aquarium which rescues sea creatures...so it's just a big win.
When the kids were younger we were members for many years, but having moved to the surburbs and the kids have gotten older and are now at school, there was just less time and less reason to go.....so silly...we all totally LOVED our visit - the kids learned SO much and we are all so keen to go back. There is SO much to see and learn, that i know next visit will be just as interesting. It was pretty crowded as it was during school holidays, so we'll go next time during the term and possibly during winter when we want a lovely indoors activity. It is so beautiful, well presented and overall an amazing pace for adults and kids.

Visiting the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront Cape Town is an experience you do not want to miss. Stepping into this wonderland teleports you to the mysterious and mesmerizing living world found within our oceans.

The aquarium’s atmosphere is calming, and the impressive exhibits showcase the diverse marine life found in both the Indian and Atlantic oceans. The beautifully designed displays, mimicking the animals’ natural habitat, feels like you are deep underneath the sea, peeking at the fishes through oversized windows.

You can purchase tickets at the door or on their website. You also have the option to buy an aquarium membership giving you exclusive benefits and unlimited access to the aquarium.

Coming to this aquarium was ok. Something to do with the kids when they were smaller. We were fortunate enough to visit the Lisbon aquarium and we were totally blown away and felt nothing could compare to that experience. So we came, prepared to be disappointed. However, the actual experience was the very opposite. We loved it. I cannot put my finger on what has changed. It is not the mind blowing experience of the Lisbon aquarium. Instead it felt more intimate and the staff went out of their way in welcoming us and making us feel like we were part of the marine family. They are doing fabulous work. Now we are thinking of becoming members. I loved that the Bootleggers is at the aquarium. Great addition.
