About
Though the beach is still popular, the elegant splendor that once graced this seaside resort community barely shows through the paved-over streets, fast-food eateries and shopping centers.

Awesome area, lots of new fresh shops close to the beach... The colorful houses need some TLC... Main reason I went there was to see the houses but was kinda disappointed

MUIZENBERG BEACH IS A DIFFERENCE EXPERIENCE EACH TIME

My son and I had a meal down at a local restaurant then took a walk along the beach (not in the sand...on the pavement)!

Interesting to notice were that many children looked like it was their job to be busy having FUN in the sand....

We much rather preferred having a discussion about culture norms and DIFFERENCES...

We live or at least my apartment is a walk on the beach away. However, not on this DAY...

I have a writing studio in Muizenberg. Due to LOCKDOWN, I hardly venture anywhere near the shopping centre close to the beach. However, today, I essentially had no choice.

I took an uber ride from where I live till Surfers corner. The fee was R14 which I thought ridiculous so paid the driver R20 (same back to my home)!

I sat on a public bench and had a picnic lunch for one. Afterward, I took a slow stroll pass the beach front shops to notice which restaurants have closed, which are still open and to witness the positive seeming changes with building and or renovation taking place.

Down at the main road, I stopped to view Muizenberg Park...so lovely this time of year.

Of course, I did do essential food shopping before tripping over home, happy to be alive.

Went surfing there back on a vacation. Place needs to be cleaned up badly. Car guards harass you and there is junk. Nice place to learn surfing though.

easy to park along the waterfront. The beach is really large and nice. The point of view is just beautiful. And the funny touch is all these coloured beach cabins

Muizenberg is a beautiful beach with interesting old changing rooms painted in vibrant colours. These changing rooms are not well maintained though, which is a shame. It's still an incredible place to visit and worth it.

The main attractions are the wavs and the beach huts. Like the rest of Muizenberg the huts are looking a bit tired and sadly. don't make it a good beach. The beach itself isquite narrow and the wind blows the sand everywhere. It's safe enough but not great to relax on and not great fun unless you're surfing.

We went there for pictures of the famous changing houses. We were surprised how neglected they are. They are not in use anymore, as I have expected. Beach was dirty and very windy. Truth is that we arrived before sunset, so beach was empty except couple of beer drinking youths. We did not feel safe, so took some pictures and left.

It is the next Sunday than last Sunday when I was down at SUNRISE Beach at the Muizenberg Fleamarket...

I walked down with my seventeen year old son,
....We had lunch as I definitely wanted to take a quick view of the high tide...I did.

On route back from the Flea market, it was the different angle of Muizenberg MOUNTAIN that caught my eye.

I took some photographs and then caught so much thoughts on route home.

It really is beautiful to live out here in Muizenberg.
SUNSET walks are BEST. HOWEVER, late afternoon lunch too.

See how different the view is from my WRITING STUDIO in Muizenberg.

You could go to beaches on the other side of the mountain and rub shoulders with a lot of other tourists or expats now living in Cape Town or you could get a taste for the cosmopolitan reality of the majority of Capetonians born and bred in the city.

If the beach culture, surfing culture, food culture and people culture interest you then this beach is a really good place to start.

Walking from Muizemberg to Kalk bay and reading all the history boards along the way is a good way to discover more about this hidden gem hiding in plain sight.
