Please advise why the train that left Johannesburg, Parkstation, yesterday (07/10/2018) at 13h30 instead of 12h30 has still not arrived at Cape Town station? The train keeps stopping every 2 kms for hours. People now don't have drinks and food. Who is accountable to ensure...More

Best part of the trip would be the most amazing views that you are able to see from the bottom bunks of the carriage. Great tasty burgers are one of the items that can be bought from the restaurant. Not much to do if you...More

Not a good trip. No bedding available, as there was a tour group on board. Just enough bedding for them, nothing available for passengers not part of this group. Also the train arrived in Cape Town after 7pm, instead of 3.30pm
We went to Joburg and back to CT. The train were 5 hours late with arrival at Joburg station and 11 hours late back at CT station!!! with lot of bad results. Very late at guesthouse and we lost a lot of maney.

Honestly I would seriously reconsider. A train journey need to open ended because departure time and arrival time is a guessing game. Like it may depart and it may arrive approximately 36 hours later than planned. The trains are squalid and you do get lovely scenery once out of the city or urban areas. In those areas position filth and urban degeneration is the rule.
Food and meals and drinks on the train is limited. The menu and bar list is an eye blind. The menu depends on what the staff fancy. Buy food and drink at the various stops which is quite long.
In summer it is going to be hot. The showers and toilets do not always work.
If you like that sort of adventure please go. Food to be bought at the stations are lovely. Wine and spirits are cheap and quite good.
