Andre' Hamann our guide was terrific - always 15 minutes early and always prepared for everything. Informative, funny, flexible (you have to be when you have a group of 12 of us!) and the man can see a Kudu from 500 yards away and a whale before even the Whale Crier in Hermanus can blow his horn. In 4 days with Andre' we saw/cable car'd our way to Table Mountain, Lionshead, the Cape of Good Hope, Penguins, Wine Country, Hermanus / Whale Watching and we got to love and know Cape Town like not many people have ever seen it. Thanks to Andre' and also thanks to our driver TooFeak (I know I misspelled that one) who was equally as knowledgeable and drove us from place to place with a smile on his face and insights and answers to our questions whenever we had them.

I booked Andrei (driver) for a few days of tours around Capetown in August of 2022.

We were picked up at the airport and dropped on the first day at our airbnb in Camps Bay.

The next 3 days we were picked up in the morning and treated fantastic as we had adventures with wine tasting, auto museum, touring the major sites of Capetown and surrounding coast lines.

Our driver Andrei was funny and full of info and we learned a lot and I felt like we made a great friend on the adventure. Vehicle was clean and we felt safe and looked after at all times.

A definite 5 Star!

We travelled with African Sky for our Honeymoon in September 2019 and stayed for 2 weeks. With African Sky, there was never a doubt that we were completely taken care of. This is not a “cookie-cutter” tour company...everything was personalized. We were picked up by our guide right when we landed and rode in her personal car while sharing stories and getting to know one another. We truly felt like we were family. Between the accommodations, guides and food…everything was first-class! We finished our trip with the safari and made enough memories for a lifetime. We were so thankful for how much African Sky went above and beyond for us. We never had to worry about a thing...they even made restaurant reservations for us!

Started in Capetown and stayed in Camps Bay (Oceanview House): Cape of Good Hope tour, shark cage diving, Robben Island tour

Traveled to Franschhoek for wine tasting

Flew to Nelspruit: Matsamo Cultural Village and Elephant Sanctuary

Safari @ Timbavati Private Game Reserve and saw the big 5!

Having 15+ years regular travelling experience, we consider ourselves quite demanding and not easy 😊customers. Decided to go with African Sky after done lot of survey work. The decision even exceeded our expectations. Thanks to Mary-Anne and Amanda we saw and experienced many things we could never seen by ourselves. Their knowledge about African history, birds, plants and animals was extraordinary. All arrangements worked out well, all ad hoc adjustments were smoothly done according to our wishes and needs. We really felt to be in very good hands and safe during the whole trip. We highly recommend African Sky services with Mary-Anne and Amanda as tour guides 👍👍👍

Andrew at African Sky put together an outstanding 19 day tour for our group. We did not just go from A to B but were shown and did so many extras activities along the way. The safaris were excellent with our guide Mary-Anne whose knowledge kept us enthralled and excited as we saw so many animals and had such great commentary. Overall a trip of a lifetime thanks to African Sky.

Just got back from a 14 tour with friends in South Africa organized by African Sky. We spent 5 days in Cape Town, then went towards Garden Route, and ended with a 3 day Safari in Ado Elephant Park. The whole trip was perfect, had no problems, everything was very well arranged by Riaan. Our tour guide Andre made our stay enjoyable and interesting . His knowledge of the history, culture, animals, plants was impressive. i highly recommend African Sky.

An amazing journey, Kruger to Cape Town - well planned by African Sky Safari & Tours. Mr. Andrew Harvey took care of every detail with this trip. He was very friendly, approachable and easy to work with. Thank you for making this trip memorable.

My daughter and I took our first trip to Africa in December. We spent about 8 months planning this. We engaged 2 tour operators via the internet to see which would come-up with the better plan. We went with African Sky, even though their package was a little more expensive, mainly because they listened to what we were trying to accomplish and came-up with the better suggestions. They also were speedy in returning our emails (we worked with Andrew, mainly) and had great suggestions as to how to go about our adventure.

Things they did right: 1) talked us into flying rather than driving from Jo-burg to Kruger; this saved time and got us there in time to enjoy more safari drives. 2) steered us toward a lodge inside Kruger rather than outside in one of the adjacent game preserves. Not only was the lodge more upscale, they explained why the safari experience might be better and ensured that we would see plenty of animals---WE DID! It couldn't have been better. 3) Came-up with a direct flight to our second destination, Vic Falls in Zambia (the other operator wanted to fly us back to Jo-burg and park us in Pretoria for one night), 4) suggested what turned-out to be an excellent lodge in Zambia rather than Zimbabwe, Zim would've worked out, but most of the activities we wanted to do were in Zambia, and being in Zimbabwe would've meant several tedious, expensive border crossings. As it was, we crossed into Zim once but were very happy with convenience of the Zambia "home base", 5) pre-booked us several excursions they rightly projected we would enjoy, but also left an open day so that we had time for extra outings that suited our interests, 6) provided ample, thourough information on visas, yellow fever innoculation, currency, the cheapest way to get ZAR, etc., so that we didn't have to spend hours thinking of all these things and then sorting them out on our own, 7) gave us a nice discount for sending our downpayment and balance via wire transfer from our bank rather than credit card.

Mary Ann met us at the airport on time with all our transfers and e-tickets in hand and even got us to our next gate in time for the airline to bump us up to an earlier flight. Then, she made calls so that our lodge transfer was waiting for us upon our earlier-than-expected arrival.

The one thing that went wrong: they arranged a transfer from our first hotel to an airport in Nelspruit, but only allowed 3 hours for the trip. The driver they arranged took too much time, got lost and we almost missed our flight. Not sure this was African Sky's fault, exactly, and since we made the plane (by 15 minutes), I can't report how they behave in case of emergency---although it was nice having 3 emergency numbers available in case things had gone awry.

If you're planning an African visit and you want help arranging it, you should feel comfortable with African Sky, in my opinion. It's weird wiring-off money to someone across the ocean who you do not know. But this operator was great. Of course, part of my comfort factor had to do with other good reviews I read here on Trip Advisor many months ago. I'm happy to add my positive recent experience to hopefully bolster your confidence now.

We have all just returned from a corporate trip with this company and have to say that agreed itinerary by Hennie was not as pormised. Number of Rooms were underbooked resulting in some people having to share a room (bad since some dont really know each other well) , gala dinner event became a buffet which is being shared iwth public, timing of programs was totally different from what we have sent in the synopsis, wine cellar tour was committed to us in the itinerary but when we arrived, we were told no such tour were booked and then we had to have an alternative wine tasting. For 3 days in a row, something was going wrong all the time and we had to spend extra time and money for the client recovery process.. Whats more frustrating is, even when we wrote a feedback to both Hennie and their owner Mr Riann, we have not even received an email to let us know they will look into the matter.

This is our first experience with them but for sure it will not be repeated. Travel with them at your own risk especially if you have a bigger group since we really dont think they are professional when faced with problems and negative feedback.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and take your complaint very seriously indeed. Your tour was arranged through an agent and not directly with us. During your visit it became clear that your agent had not studied the reservation document thoroughly, having made several incorrect assumptions contradictory to the itinerary. Before arrival it was made clear to her that Aquila did not have enough single rooms available and your party would overnight on a twin-sharing basis. Your agent acknowledged this in writing, stating she would inform the party. In spite of this, on your arrival at Aquila and at our expense, we booked the only extra room available in an effort to assist. On a subsequent day your itinerary stated that after lunch you have “the opportunity to enjoy the lush gardens and do a tour of the wine cellar at Vergelegen”. Clearly the cellar tour wasn’t included but once queried, we immediately arranged for a special wine tasting which included a very special bottle of wine to the value roughly US$160. We are absolutely meticulous when it comes to finalizing the details of every tour. Every schedule is triple-checked for accuracy. It’s unfortunate that you didn’t enjoy your trip with us and it disappoints us greatly. You’re welcome to contact us directly if you wish to discuss your complaints further. Please send your email to info@africansky.com.

We considered returning to Tauck and checked out other companies, but after reviewing and researching the web, we chose African Sky to plan our trip to Southern Africa. Their website is very easy to use, showing suggested packages. From the very first contact, this company stood out. Andrew promptly replied to inquiries. Once you tell them your desires, budget and schedule they customize your vacation accordingly tweaking things as needed. We opted for the 10 day Cape Town/Kruger/Vic Falls tour, noting our preferences for regional highlights, room types, location. We were traveling with our 16 year old which entails extra documentation due to recent travel laws. Andrew made sure we were on top of that. We married just before the trip started. A surprise to all! It was a unique honeymoon/family trip combination. Thanks to African Sky, our days were filled with romantic touches AND we did everything we wanted as a family. Amanda was our guide and friend in Cape Town for five days over Christmas. Upon arrival she took fantastic care of ALL details for us. With so much to see, and a packed agenda, she did an amazing job showing us the highlights and letting us linger or make extra stops if we wished. The Commodore was perfectly located and rooms were as good as expected. Service/Staff/Breakfast/pool and great A/C were a plus, but we were off on adventures all day not in our hotel much. Christmas season at the V&A waterfront is extremely crowded so Amanda made sure we had a reservation at our choice of restaurants. Rather than limiting us to a specific place or menu, she simply handed us the cash for the inclusive dinner and we were free to go out on our own and eat when and where we wished, which is part of the charm of Cape Town waterfront. It was extremely hot, but the spacious van was newer and clean, leaving us to sit back and enjoy all the gorgeous scenery. We especially loved the Ernie Els wine tasting. Gorgeous Vineyards. We could never have seen what we did if we didn't have this private tour. Flights were well scheduled to get us to Kruger and Vic Falls for our safari days. All we had to do was pack up and hop in the car while another guide/driver met us at the next flight arrival. One glitch, I lost one of our phones while waiting for a flight. I called the tour office in a panic assuming it was at the hotel or dropped in the airport. In a few minutes we got a call back that our guide Maryanne saw it while I sloppily repacked a suitcase in the parking lot----sure enough it was in our checked luggage so I had immediate relief rather than a day of fretting. We were exhausted from early safari mornings so the Pretoria stop was a bit overwhelming. We asked to be brought right to the hotel after a whirlwind history lesson and stop at Voortrekker. The Lombardy was a bit older and more tired than we had hoped, but the suites were spacious and clean. African Sky Tour offices are nearby and we had the unexpected pleasure of Andrew joining us for dinner which was the highlight of that day. Learning from someone who lives there is the BEST way to appreciate what we are seeing and experiencing. We never expected to have such personal contact (and delicious wine served!) but once again this company goes above and beyond. The final destination was Victoria Falls and The Elephant Camp West. Every moment of that experience was FIVE STAR. This is in a separate review. We have already spread the word to friends considering an African tour. USE THIS COMPANY! The personalized attention before, during and even after your vacation will by far outweigh any reservations you could have about booking your trip with them. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to beautiful Africa, we will absolutely work with African Sky Tours.
