Durbanville Wine Tour

About Durbanville Hills
Set in the Tygerberg Hills, Durbanville was initially known as Pampoenkraal then later as Durbanville, the wineries on the Durbanville Route initially began as an öutspan”(resting place) around a spring which was the meeting place for travelers, transport riders and local farmers. Because of its Mediterranean climate and that most of the vineyards are planted between 100 and 350 metres above sea level, they are better equipped to deal with the hot dry summer months while being cooled by the cool winds from the Atlantic Ocean especially in the summer months recording its first surplus of wine as early as 1702.
The most notable wine estates being: Altydgedacht, De Grendel, Diemersdal, Durbanville Hills and Meerendal.

Together with my partner we have used Andy multiple times over several years for unique and unforgettable experiences in and around Cape Town area. Andy is the perfect guide with detailed attention to our personal wishes. During March 2020 I sent my mother and her friend for a custom tour for +2 weeks with Andy and one of his guides and they had the most fantastic time - and my mother is a very well traveled and demanding woman who is not easy to impress! I felt 100% safe knowing that Andy would design the best program for her that catered to her unique situation and that he would do his outmost to keep her happy and safe.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Franschhoek's gorgeous wine country with Andy's Tours. Our guide (Wally) was fantastic, and gave us great insight into the region's history. The vineyards were beautiful, with a great value for all of the tastings, and we also enjoyed out lunch stop with a stunning view of the valley.

Andy is a knowledgeable tour guide who takes pleasure in ensuring his guests have the best experiences Cape Town has to offer. My husband and I booked Andy for a full day wine tour in Franschhoek last month. From start to finish Andy provided a brilliant experience with fantastic winery and lunch recommendations, great local knowledge and even organizing a special desert to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed his company so much we organised for a peninsular tour the next day where he managed to fit in all the sites, despite our last minute booking. We'd highly recommend Andy, and look forward to coming back!

My husband and I booked a two day private tour with Andy. We wanted to see all we could see, so Andy made up an itinerary. The first day Marlene came to pick us up at our hotel. It wasn't a very nice day and we were supposed to go to the Cape. We drove there but it was so foggy we didn't even go in. We did go to see the Penguins and had a lunch and shopping stop in a very cute little town. As it was terribly windy, the cable car on table mountain was closed so we couldn't do that. My husband really wanted to go to the casino, so we dropped him off and Marlene and I went shopping. She took my husband into the casino and found out exactly what he had to do to play as the rules were different there. We had a nice hour just walking around the mall. Marlene is such a lovely woman and was so concerned for our safety and well being. I can't say anything negative about the day!! It turned out great despite the weather. The next day Ariete picked us up for our trip to Robben Island. She had to tickets and waited with us until we could board the boat. Ariete was waiting for us when we arrived back at the pier. Robben Island was something no-one should miss while in Capetown. We then went to the most amazing little hidden jewel for lunch. The Jewish Astra Center. It was definitely off the beaten track. The lunch was wonderful and the people there were so nice! It is a center where they teach special needs men and women skills and give them employment. It was truly the highlight of our trip. We saw some other historical places and finished the tour with a drive through the Bo Kaap area. Ariete is also a very sweet woman. We couldn't have had two nicer tour guides. I feel we saw a lot of the area in our few days and have a lot more understanding of the country. I would recommend Andys tours as the girls were so caring and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you ladies is was a pleasure to meet you both.

During our recent visit to Cape Town we used Andy's Tours and Shuttle Services on a number of occasions, for both tours( a wine tour and a Cape Peninsula tour) and transport to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. Andy happily offered both standard and customised tours to satisfy the requirements of the party. Our party consisted of up to 20 people on one occasion, a family of nine on the wine tour and 4 adults for the safari trip.On all occasions Andy used his local knowledge, expertise and a high degree of professionalism to ensure we all got the maximum impact from our itinerary. On all tours Andy offered great flexibility within the itinerary to ensure all our requirements were met - often extending the day to cover any additional items that we requested or he suggested and we never felt rushed at any time during the tours. Overall we were delighted by the service provided by Andy and his team, so much so he almost became one of the family. We feel he thoroughly deserves his 5 star rating and should we return to South Africa in the future we would definitely use Andy's services again. Many thanks Andy- to you and your staff for your time and effort in helping create some wonderful memories of our visit to South Africa. The Lacey Family
