We booked this to get to Johannesburg from Cape Town as we had some time to kill and thought this would be a nice, easy way to see the African scenery.
We arrived at the lounge for coffee and muffins and the train manager did...More
This train is not “Premier Class” but it is a train and it is clean, comfortable and safe. We took the train from Johannesburg to Cape Town and we enjoyed watching the different landscapes. It had recently rained in the Karoo so it was filled...More
We were not in a hurry to get from Johannesburg to Cape Town, which was just as well given that we arrived at 19:45 pm instead of the scheduled 12:30 pm.
We arrived at the Premiere Classe lounge reception at 9.30am. The room was already...More

What was supposed to be the most luxurious train journey as per their welcome letter turned out to be a huge disappointment. The train left Cape Town 35 minutes late, no big deal as we were on holiday and well prepared for a late arrival...More
The decor is from the 70s, but well maintained, the staff courteous, friendly and proud of their train.

We chose to go by train to see more of the landscape than we would have done by plane. Relaxing and informal atmosphere. Easy to get in contact to other passengers. We met some nice people and had a great time on the train.

The trip is amazing but as with other reviewers don’t be making onward plans as the train is often late. I was 2 hours late which didn’t cause me any issues but if you have connections it may be a problem. I would filter in at least a 3-4 hour delay to be sure! The train is comfortable and safe and serves drinks and the food is reasonable. Arriving at Jo’burg is a bit daunting it’s huge and you will get hassled so take care of your belongings I didn’t get a linked train but I believe there is a link to the airport.
My apologies for the delay in responding. I am only familiar about the Johannesburg-Capetown trip. I do know the same company also has a Johannesburg-Durban trip, but I do not know about going from Durban to Capetown by... More
