Gavin Slabbert knows how to run a preeminent photography tour!! Three weeks in Kenya culminating with 10 days in the Earthly crown jewel Masai Mara amidst the great Wildebeest migration, unbelievably surpassed all my expectations! Thousands of photos of iconic mammals, beautiful birds, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cultures; he made Africa come alive for me! Not only does Gavin surround himself with top-flight support from guides to accommodations, but he himself is a superb photographer and teacher. Always willing to explain any aspect of photography from technology to composition in a manner that is easily understood... and he follows through to make sure you have assimilated all he has explained. From beginner to advanced, there is a no way you don't go home a better, happier photographer. Gavin completes the grandeur of his tours by bringing you to dreamscapes. Everywhere we went and everything we experienced was mind-blowing. And his infectious enthusiasm and buoyant personality just enhances your experience. Every day is fun and engaging and everything you expect a vacation to be. Whole-heartedly recommend Gavin Slabbert and his Images in Africa Safaris. He works really hard to ensure your comfort and smiles! His are truly trips of a lifetime!

I've been on four, 10-day Africa safaris with Gavin and have more planned with him both local and abroad. Gavin pays attention to details and puts his customers first - both in terms of photo ops and in his attention to their comfort whilst in-country. I appreciate his 1-photographer-per-seat row accommodations, and wouldn't have it any other way for a photo safari. Easy to joke with, and knowledgeable about photography and the locations... makes for an easy-going and enjoyable photo excursion. Accommodating to any level of photographer - he'll help when needed or asked, but knows to leave you alone when you have things in hand. Can't ask for more than that!

I have just returned from an Images in Africa Safaris photography workshop in South Africa. This included a six-day safari at Sabi Sands Game Reserve (adjacent to Kruger National Park) and four days in and around Cape Town. The workshop was a great success. This was largely because of the instructor, Gavin Slabbert. Gavin is originally from South Africa and is very familiar with the wildlife and the best places to photograph it. He is an accomplished photographer and has photographed the wildlife extensively. He is always glad to share his wide knowledge of photography and techniques for wildlife and other photography. Gavin is passionate about what he does. He is very enthusiastic, energetic, friendly and helpful, and has a great sense of humor. Considering the length and breadth of the workshop, the cost was very reasonable. The workshop was very well organized. Gavin took care of most of the details and everything went smoothly from start to finish. Accommodations and food were excellent, especially at Sabi Sands. Gavin kept us busy from before sunrise to after sunset and this provided for many photographic opportunities. In the Cape town segment of the Workshop, Gavin joined forces with Peter Haarhof, a very knowledgeable local guide and photographer. Peter was a tour de force on that segment and took us to some places that most tourists do not visit. He and Gavin worked very well together. Of course the ultimate test of a workshop are the photographic opportunities and here there was an embarrassment of riches. Subjects included beautiful wildlife in its natural environment (including the "Big Five" or, in our case, the "Super Seven") and landscapes in Sabi Sands and along the coast from Cape Town to the Cape of Good Hope. There were also abundant opportunities for street, architectural and plant photography. I am still working on my trove of photos but so far am delighted - and surprised - by what I have. Over the years I have attended several first rate photographic workshops. This one is at the top of my list and I will definitely be back for more.

Ian, Thank you so much for the wonderful review. It was a pleasure having you on the workshop. A workshop is only as good as the attendees, and everyone, especially you made my task extremely easy, and I thank you for that, and I look forward to our next encounter. Best Regards Gavin Slabbert CEO Images in Africa Safaris

Any of the camps and tours along the Mara river can show you the wildlife and beautiful landscapes of the Masai Mara, but for a truly immersive experience you need an experienced guide who loves the country. Gavin Slabbert of Images in Africa Safaris brings the entire package. A successful photo safari in Kenya requires planning, attention to detail, and a lot of flexibility. Gavin provided door-to-door support, ensuring that our trip was the experience of a lifetime. He worked closely with the staff of the Sentinel Mara camp, making sure that we had everything we needed, from packed meals for our game drives to hiring a third driver so that each of the three couples had a vehicle of their own. Gavin is a patient photography instructor, sharing his deep knowledge and experience, helping us improve our images throughout the safari. My wife and I were barely halfway through our trip before we started planning our next trip with Gavin. As icing on the cake, we were joined by two couples who are experienced photographers, each of whom were willing to share their knowledge with us. Our thanks to Gavin and our fellow travelers for making this an experience to remember!

Our photo safari with Gavin Slabbert was a great experience, and it exceeded our expectations. My husband and I spent 10 days with Gavin and two other couples searching for wildlife. We were not disappointed! Gavin handled all of the details once we landed in Nairobi. He arranged the hotel shuttles, the hotel stay with breakfast in Nairobi, the round-trip flight to the Mara, transportation to Sentinel Mara Camp, and then the game drives. He hand-picked the drivers for the group. My husband and I had a vehicle to ourselves so that we had plenty of room to carry all of our camera gear. Our driver, Boston, was great! Gavin thought of everything, and we didn't have to worry about anything. Gavin chose the Sentinel Mara Camp for our lodging. It was a great glamping experience. They catered to our needs to be out for breakfasts and sometimes lunch. The drivers would carry the food and drinks, and we enjoyed the scenery while eating. Read the reviews about the camp, and you will see that they provide excellent service. This trip was billed as a photo safari to see the wildebeests migrate from Tanzania. We first saw them cross the Sand River and then the Mara River. Our vehicle was in the midst of maybe 200K wildebeests. It was an amazing experience! Boston did his best to get us in position to photograph the crossings--even if there were too many vehicles around the river. Besides the wildebeests, we viewed and photographed much wildlife. Lions were plentiful, as were the zebras, hyenas, gazelles, and warthogs. There are really too many animals to name here. We experienced a couple of cheetahs hunting and killing prey. We even saw a lioness take down a zebra and drag it into the bush to feed her cubs. Although it may sound horrible, that is life in the Mara. As to the photography, Gavin is extremely knowledgeable. I am a novice photographer, and Gavin provided many helpful hints to ensure that I got good images. The photos taken later in the trip were much better than what I took early on. For that, I am grateful. Gavin will provide informal or formal discussions to address your needs. It's up to you on how you want to learn. If something doesn't make sense, he will continue to work with you until you "get it". I highly recommend a photo safari trip with Gavin. Even before the end of this trip, we were already planning another trip with Gavin. He gets you to incredible places and takes care of all the details. All you need to do is come with your camera gear and have an amazing experience!
