This is their full day safari tour. We were picked up in St Lucia at 5:00 AM in the open air safari truck with 3 rows of seats and a roof which provided thankful relief hot African sun. Our guide /driver / chef was Phindy. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the animals, birds and vegetation in the park
About 1 hour drive from St Lucia to the park entrance. In all there were 6 people on our truck. A great mix of people. Phindy clearly has lots of experience sighting wildlife camouflage in the dense bush or far in the distance. It was a hot day so most of the sightings were during the early morning. Phindy did not relent, noticing fresh rhino droppings she navigated down the side roads and eventually spotted a mother and calf rhino cooling off in a river bed under some trees.
She served up a delicious breakfast and lunch at 2 rest stops and had us back in St Lucia just after 3:00 in the afternoon. A long hot day but we are extremely grateful for doing it and al the interesting information shared during the tour about the animals, birds and local vegetation and how it is used by indigenous people. Don’t miss it if you are in the St Lucia, South Africa area

What a great day we had in the Hluhluwe Game Reserve with TK, who’s an excellent guide. We wanted a guided tour before we embarked on our own self-drive safari. We booked an exclusive tour, which was well worth it, not only because you can decide how much time to spend at each sighting but also the guide network has the advantage of identifying the best sightings, which you can get to quickly. In addition to this tour, we also visited St Lucia for a boat trip to see hippos and crocodiles close up. Again, well worth doing.

My partner and I had an amazing time on the safari tour on Wednesday, our guide Kyle made our safari tour truly one to remember as it was also a special occasion for us and both Kyle and Heritage went above and beyond. If you book with Heritage tours which we definitely recommend then request Kyle, he’s knowledgeable, kind, personable, funny and the love for his job shows. Thank you Kyle and thank you heritage tours we will certainly book with you again!

We had the safari in the reserve in the morning... Very very cold in the jeep to arrive at the entrance to the park... A bit long this transfer hour (on the way there and on the way back). It is a very beautiful park with magnificent landscapes. We were hoping to see the rhino, but that didn't happen...we saw other animals, but as we were coming from 4 days in Kruger, it was less spectacular.
In the afternoon, we had the sunset in the estuary, where we saw a lot of birds and hippos :-) Very pleasant boat trip with a friendly and humorous guide!

We had a brilliant full day tour with our guide Jabu. He had a wealth of knowledge, he tracked some of the animals by their tracks and gave us the best experience of seeing more animals up close, and he definitely knows how to braai a steak :) We had a fantastic pasta salad at lunch too and when i messaged the office to say thanks and how brilliant it was and could I have the recipe for the salad they sent me the recipe a couple days later! Awesome tour! Well worth the experience!!

What a FAB Day!
We had an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! The communication before the tour was seamless, ensuring we were well-prepared. On the day, we were greeted with warm blankets which made the chilly morning so much more enjoyable. The food provided was delicious and catered perfectly to both adults and children. I loved my hot coffee at breakfast.
Our game driver was incredibly professional, navigating us safely and ensuring we had the best views of a wide variety of animals. The entire experience was also very child-friendly, which made it even more special for our family. Everything was punctual and well-organized, making for a stress-free and memorable day. Highly recommend!

Great experience with heritage tours. We have booked several Things to do (full day safari hluhluwe-imfolozi and sunrise isimangaliso safari) with them in we are very happy!!!
Our TK Guide took care of us throughout the day with a great breakfast then a barbecue at lunch. Not to mention the many explanations about the local flora and fauna and the wonders we were able to do.
Chance did things well and we were able to meet many animals!

We had the pleasure of being driven by Yamkhela in the Umfolozi Game Reserve. He was kind, friendly and informative. We came across a herd of elephants with an elephant bull hanging around. It was very enlightening to watch their behavior and communication with each other. Saw 4/5 of the Big 5. The leopard was elusive. Nonetheless it was a fantastic experience and would recommend that if you are going to the park for the first time then go on a guided tour. I found the private car drivers to be obstructive and unknowledgeable on how to drive on the roads with animals nearby.

My wife and I recently went on a game drive to Hluhluwe Game Reserve with Heritage Tours and Safaris, and it was an incredible experience. Our guide, Arno, was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about the wildlife and conservation efforts. He shared fascinating insights that made the drive so much more meaningful. The highlight of our trip was spotting a pack of wild dogs, a rare and thrilling sight that we'll never forget! The experience was well-organized, and we felt in great hands the entire time. Highly recommend Heritage Tours and Safaris!

Helen was amazing at booking the right package for my family and myself, and our guide Terry was very knowledgeable on the area and the fauna and flora as well as super friendly. Lovely lunch was provided and overall experience was great. Would recommend when in the area.

we would love to do a day safari tour or more (3-4 days). And now the big question is, do you offer safaris-packages also for and with Kids (half day tours are also ok)?

Yes we do :) for children under 6 is the safaris are conducted in a closed SUV
as children under 6 are not permitted in open safari vehicles.

Hi we are visiting family in early October this year. May seem a sill question but is the safari very bumpy . I desperately want to go during our stay but have a small back problem which is not good at tolerating very bumpy roads . Not expecting a cushioned ride to be honest just need a little advice from someone who’s been . Tia 👒🦁🐘🦓🐆

The vehicles have cushioned seats and back rests, although they are rudimentary they worked well and we did not have any discomfort. There is also plenty of space to move about, I did not experience any back pain which I’m prone too. So I do not think you will have a problem and it is a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Hey Tina. From Zulu Nyala it's just over 1 to St Lucia which is where the tour starts with Heritage Safaris. The full and half day safaris start quite early in the morning though (i.e. 5 am). If you're self driving maybe you can meet them at the Imfolozi gate which will take the same amount of time. There are other options too. There's Manyoni Game Reserve that's really close to Zulu Nyala which is great place to safari at. If you have more questions you're welcome me message me, happy to share some recommendations or advice :) Justin

We were staying in St Lucia. It's only a couple of hours drive from Durban, Heritage picked us up at our accommodation each day and have an office in the main street.
