Stunning stop.
The road is a little rough but what a view!
This site highest waterfall in the area and a real must-see on the road between Graskop and Bourkes Luck Potholes.
Remember to bring cash for entry to the viewing area.

Earlier times we had missed Berlin Falls. Easy to visit, just a short drive on good road. Entry 15R.
Not as big as Lisbon Falls just few kms away, but still very beautiful. Opportunity for great fotos.
At the moment we went, there were not other tourists. So really quiet.

This is one of several waterfalls that form part of the Panorama Route drive in the Mpumalanga Highlands of South Africa. It is named after the German miners who panned for gold in the area in the late 1800s.
You'll find the Berlin Falls a couple of km along the turnoff road just off of R532, around 5 km north of Lisbon Falls. Opening hours are 8am to 5pm, entry R15 per adult. You'll find a small carpark, curio stalls and toilet facilities.
The falls are just behind he curio stands. What you will find a small river that drops water 80 meters over red cliffs into a natural pool below. Have a look for the birdlife in the area, particularly along the cliff face near the falls. Bring your binoculars if birdwatching is an interest.
In the end, we enjoy seeing the Berlin Falls more than the nearby Lisbon Falls. If you are limited in time, I suggest seeing the Berlin Falls first. If time allows, make time for the Lisbon Falls as well.

Included as part of the nearby Panorama and Waterfall Routes, we recently visited the Berlin Falls, located north of Graskop on the R532, just a couple of kilometers past the nearby Lisbon Falls.
Approximately two kilometers past the Lisbon Falls attraction, you'll see signs for the Berlin Falls, exit to your left and after another two kilometers, you'll turn left into the Berlin Falls car park. Entrance is R10 per vehicle. There are bathroom facilities and typical souvenir stalls at this attraction.
Viewing platforms are just behind the souvenir stalls, down a slight hill. There are several good vantage points for the falls and wide pool below. The Berlin Falls seems to cascade down the rock face for a while before finally plunging 45 meters the rest of the way. The pool below is beautifully clear and just seemed to be calling to us to take a swim.
Interestingly, it seems that the Berlin Falls, like the Lisbon Falls (Portuguese) and nearby Mac Mac Falls (Scottish) took on its name due to the German immigrants that arrived and panned for gold here during the 19th century South African gold rush.
Overall, we probably liked the Berlin Falls best of the waterfalls on this particular visit. Its an easy inclusion in the Panorama Route drive north of Graskop and an important inclusion for the Waterfall Route, which starts near Sabie.

Another great waterfall to see here - not the best of the bunch but totally worth a quick stopover to see. There are also picnic tables and toilets. Five to ten minutes max is what’s needed.

Berlin falls is like every waterfall, best to see after rain, but always special. 15rand entrance fee per person, they don’t charge you for parking. Average Duration of visiting is about 10-15 minutes.

We were on a small organised tour over several days in the area, the Berlin falls was not on the itinerary but we stopped anyway. It was well worth the stop, not the biggest Falls in the world, but the sense of calm and listening to water was such a chilled experience.

This waterfall is fine to stop off at for 10 minutes, but unfortunately doesn't have enough water to be spectacular (and we visited in the rainy season, so in the dry season it must be a trickle!)

Berlin Falls are not the most spectacular of the Mpumalanga waterfalls, but the single cascade drops into the large tranquil pool at its base and set in the small amphitheater gives it a picturesque view all of its own. Always worth a few minutes to stop and take some pictures. At times you were able to walk along the cliff path to the falls and this allowed some spectacular picture opportunities “over the edge”. Sadly this is no longer allowed.

What are the hours of opening and closing? Can they be entered very early morning sunrise or late for very late sunset photography?

Berlin falls is a really Pretty falls and is really close to the car park. No more than 2 minutes from the car to the view deck. You would comfortably be done in 15 minutes. There are the local traders with their wares that you have to walk past so depending on your interest in curios as well...

Bonjour,
MERCI
