- Elizabeth J6 contributionsIt's a good place for a quick visit. Boating is a option, go on awesome hikes, great sunset and sun rise views. Lots of fun. Very touristy town so everything is very very expensive. The boat ride was fun but casino was a let down after the las Vegas strip.Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 23, 2025
- SailorsgirlSpringfield, Missouri5,913 contributionsThis stop was not on our itinerary but after seeing the road sign for it we decided to stop and check it out. I remember back in 1971 when the Bridge was finally opened for tourists. It took a couple of years for it to be dismantled, packed and shipped over through the Panama Canal and reassembled in Lake Havasu City. It's now a lovely little park that is free to enjoy. Lots of little snack and souvenir shops and a cooling place to sit along beautiful blue Lake Havasu. There is even a little British souvenir shop and tourist information. A nice place to take a break along the road.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 7, 2024
- Captain HookGrimsby, United Kingdom496 contributionsIt's iconic, it's London Bridge. A great job has been done in integrating a piece of England into the desert 5000 miles away, init is almost seamless. Not too sure about the English Village built around it. It smacks of an area someone thought represented England but never actually visited. It was 100 degrees the day we visited though so very un-English weather. This attraction is definitely worth a visit, but it is slightly odd that an area of bars and restaurants chooses to close at 9.30pm when the night is still young. Now that is not typical England!Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 7, 2024
- Kristy APinckneyville, Illinois30 contributionsThis is my husbands long time home and heard so many great things about it. Finally got to visit it and its absolutely beautiful. I know he was a big disappointed in how much it has grown under the bridge and I have to admit that they have over done the boat rental to close to the bridge as an avid photographer it was hard to get beautiful shots of this area due to all the "clutter" we went during the boat parade and I couldn't get any good photos it was crowded but a great experience to say the least! Loved the lil shops and even had ice cream and enjoyed watching the birds.Visited December 2024Traveled with familyWritten February 7, 2025
- Robert HMesa, Arizona82 contributionsYou arrive at the English Village. Walking up, you see the water fountain flowing with water. There are plenty of places to eat and enjoy the area. Everything from a quick bite to a more relaxed dinner. Watching the boats going under the London Bridge. Seeing it at night is magical as well.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 22, 2024

An iconic symbol of history and architectural brilliance, stands proudly over the River Thames, weaving tales of centuries gone by. Having recently visited this timeless marvel, I am compelled to share the awe-inspiring experience that awaits those who venture to explore its grandeur.
From the moment you set eyes on London Bridge, its commanding presence leaves an indelible impression. The current structure, completed in 1973, is a modern incarnation that pays homage to its predecessors while seamlessly blending with the contemporary skyline. The clean lines and elegant simplicity of the design showcase the bridge's commitment to both form and function.
Crossing the bridge offers a panoramic view of the Thames River and the city beyond, providing a picturesque vantage point for capturing the essence of London. The juxtaposition of historic landmarks and modern architecture creates a visual tapestry that reflects the city's rich and diverse history.
Beneath the surface, the bridge conceals a treasure trove of stories. Visitors can delve into the history of its predecessors, each with its own unique narrative. The medieval bridge, immortalized in the famous nursery rhyme, and its successor, the Victorian-era bridge, have all played integral roles in shaping London's identity.

This is a historical bridge as there has always been a bridge here since 43 AD.
It is not as flashy as the Tower Bridge but is part of a famous nursery rhyme. It has seen many hardships during its lifetime like a Viking attack, Fire of London and 13th century ice damage. No wonder it was falling down again and again and needed so much repair and replacement. There used to be several houses, shops and even a church on the older version. Plus there were charges on carriages crossing it during the 13th century. There have been many bridges built here over the years. The current one was inaugurated in 1973. It was designed by Lord Holford and inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II. It is a box girder bridge. Interestingly its predecessor bridge was sold to an American who got it totally dismantled, each granite piece counted and marked and then shipped and trucked to Arizona where it was reinforced by steel and reassembled in Lake Havasu City. The current bridge has historical lamp posts which were built out of melted down cannons captured from Napoleon’s army during the Battle of Waterloo.

We picked this for a stopping area on the way to Albuquerque for the Annular Eclipse because of the lake. We were a bit disappointed that there were not boats to rent, at least that we could find. On the other hand, there was a real version of London Bridge, picked up and moved piece by piece to this location. The Holiday Inn Express we stayed at was an optimal location to visit the Bridge. At night they light it up with purple lights: very pretty.

Visited Lake Havasu City on the way back from Las Vegas and stopped at the London Bridge. We spent a few minutes there looking at the bridge and taking a few photos. Nothing special when you look at it, but the history of it is what is special. There are some shopping areas near the bridge and a couple of hotels. It’s been quite a few years since we have visited and it is now built up around the ends of the bridge - used to be pretty wide open to view it.

I was surprised by the bridge itself as the area has been well developed and it is a working bridge with car and foot traffic over the bridge. Access from the bridge to the beach area below is available from various access points and the road to the bridge is a main street in the city. The bridge is over a canal area from Lake Havasu with the area well developed with parks walking paths, shops and places to rent boats etc. We were there during the Christmas Season and it was decorated nicely for the season. It was an especially pleasant experience in the evening when all the lights were lite.

It's a bridge. It has sidewalks on both sides but no railing to separate pedestrians from the traffic... so it feels just a little dangerous walking across. Looks nice from below with the arches. On both ends, there are fence railings on which people attach padlocks with their own messages of love.

Beautiful place to visit, great to see a piece of history, plenty to see and do around the area too. Only downside, not one fast charger for EV’s anywhere in the city, very odd considering it’s A) a tourist destination and B) it’s proximity to California. We came all the way from Phoenix in an EV and was almost stranded in Lake Havasu City.

We stopped here en route from CA to AZ. The place is a bizarre mashup between England and SoCal Vibes. Imagine listening to the Beach Boys while eating bruschetta and looking at London Bridge. Unless you're into water sports, an hour is all you need. The visitor center has a little museum/gift shop manned by a kind gentleman, a smattering of shops and restaurants, including what is apparently the world's best mac'n'cheese, ice cream & boba, and a couple of bar & grille type places.

I live in Lake Havasu City so I’m able to see the London Bridge any time I’d like. They recently added colored lights to the bridge, which are beautiful. I’ve only seen them at Christmas time, but I’m told they can pick any colors by use of a smart phone or computer. The picture I’m including is just a still picture, but they can also make the lights dance to music.

This bridge was designed in 1799 in London and in 1968 Mr McCullough Placed a winning bid for $2,460,000. They started the process of numbering each block before it was disassembled, loaded, then shipped. Passed through the Panama Canal and made it to Long Beach California. It eventually made it to a here and was reconstructed on October 10, 1971 Lake Havasu city became the home of the London bridge. It is a spectacular site.
I WOULD venture over the bridge again.

Does the visitor center have a movie going about the bridge? We will be there in November and it looks like there are no walking tours but I know my husband will be very interested in the history. Thanks!

Yes, this is a functional bridge and open all the time. It takes you over to the island where there are shops, restaurants, homes, hotels and a golf course. Plus a 3 mile paved walking trail.

What is a reasonable time to see the bridge and shops when passing through to Joshua Tree?
Written April 25, 2018
I would spend at least a day to see the bridge & shops. The boardwalk is a beautiful place to walk. Good place to sit outside & grab something to eat on the boardwalk is "Burgers by the Bridge." Take a boat tour of the Colorado River on the Blue Water Jet Boat. It is beautiful going to the Topack Gorge. This is about a 5hr. tour.
