The restaurant offers lovely coffees but the menu is limited to pies and light lunches. If you wish to have a picnic you need to keep an eye on the monkeys and your food. The monkeys are lightning fast and will take any unattended food.

The toilets were clean but the surrounding area neglected.
the shop is well stocked but the staff, whilst friendly, unprofessional.
Same goes for the coffee bar.
the tables around the eating area are neglected, in disarray, the lapa thatch roof suffers from the same neglect.
the picnic benches are not just dirty but grimy, both tables and seats, the area just off the braai areas toward the river bank are full of litter and cut vegetation just left in untidy heaps.
As stated, the staff are friendly and helpful but it all seems to point to a lack of directive and managerial supervision.
The parks board could really get so much more value both in financial terms as well as building goodwill with a little care and effort.
The lasting impression is that KNP park management and staff don't seem to value and have pride in what is in their care and the picture that tourists, locals and foreigners will paint to friends, family and agencies.

This is a very popular stop for keuger visitors so it is always very busy and the wait for food is long. They often run out of the more popular items early and are quite expensive. The roosterkoek wasn't great and it was so busy there was no where to sit and eat so we ate in the car.

We have often stopped at Tshokwane Picnic Site, with varying experiences. The picnic site is very good, but the restaurant is so vastly improved that it is a pity not to stop. The shop is also very nice, very different in a few ways than the Parks Shop, which are also good. The roosterkoek is delicious and well worth trying.

Every time we visited this picnic site we saw some animals. Last time we saw elephants nearby. Although there is no fence, it felt quite secure. There a snackbar at the site were you can get coffee and snacks like boerewors, a South African sausage not to be missed. Watch out for the monkeys, which will try to get their share of your lunch.

On our recent trip to Kruger Park, we popped in for a bite to eat. They are busy revamping this picnic spot, so it is a bit disorganized.
We ordered Chicken Pies and coffee from the coffee shop. We found a nice clean table to eat at. For the first time ever we were not worried by monkeys or baboons. What a huge pie we each enjoyed...full of juicy chicken and gravy...absolutely delicious!
The blue starling were around to collect any crumbs...such beautiful birds.
The toilets were also clean.
We also spent some time in the crammed curio shop. I’m sure this shop will enjoy more space once the revamp has been completed.
A lovely picnic spot just to stop and enjoy a bite to eat.

A real good stop with a restaurant, skottels for cooking your own and a shop. We enjoyed the cheese and tomato roosterkoek (traditional bread rolls cooked on the braai grid) from the shop. There was a variety of local options to choose from including bobotie pies.

This is only a good place to break the journey up the length of the KNP. Good clean toilets and able to hire gas braai or eat your own food. Enough space for kids to run around but it is not "destination" as such. We go the toilet but go to the nearby Orpen Dam to eat lunch and watch the game (was little this time).

We only had a few days in Kruger, so we were in the queues for gate opening, and just made it back for gate closing. We quite forgot that we hadn't eatun for 8 hours, untill we arrived. The smells wafting from the BBQ made us very hungry – the food was great.

Another lovely picnic site which has great improved. The restaurant offers lovely jaffles and a good coffee. The curio shop is well stocked. The monkeys make it interesting especially if you hire a scottle and cook your own meal. You won't be sorry you popped in
