Most other things—to—do were closed over Christmas weekend, but African Birds of Prey Sanctuary. We like that each bird has a name and their stories are detailed on a leaflet (not just scientific facts). Field guide is really knowledgable and it is a treat watching the vultures being fed.

We visited the sanctuary and were left to our own resources to wander around the complex. It really is something to behold and is very well kept and maintained. The variety of birds on display is well worth a visit.

Had an amazing birthday visit. The flight display at 10:30 was fantastic to see and learn about the birds. The presenters clearly have a love for the birds and work great with adults as well as small children. Would definitely visit again

A must visit place. Very good explanation about the vultures. Even on a rainy day totally worth it. Bring umbrella

Anyone who enjoys learning about birds of prey should visit this venue. It is advisable to wear a sun hat as there is limited shade.

A wonderful place to visit, the walkaround bird visit was amazing and then the bird show given by the birds was excellent and an opportunity to learn about the species.

This place is laid back and it is wonderful to be able to walk around at your leisure and read about the rescued birds. They also breed some of the birds for release into the wild. A light meal or coffee/tea with a snack is available. The view is wonderful.

What an enjoyable experience the visit to this great park that provides sanctuary for raptor type birds who, for various reasons are unable to be safely released into the Wild. Such beautiful specimens of birds rarely seen by the average birdwatcher, allowing visitors to get an incredible idea of some of Africa’s outstanding bird life. Well kept, clean and easy access from the N3.

What a wonderful place. Staff were all extremely friendly and even though we were the only 2 people there, they made us feel welcome and special. Loved that our guide was a beautiful black labrador. The flying show was great despite difficult conditions. The work that they do to help rescue and rehabilitate the bird is wonderful. Definitely a great morning out.

Close to Pietermaritzburg, and an easy glide off of the N3, I was thrilled to see how my grandson experienced the wonder of the birds . He now draws them talks about them and discusses their habits knowledgeably. As an adult I learned new things, and was very moved by the wrap around sight of the rescued birds. All kept in airy safety, they range from teeny owls to great vultures.
The staff were very chatty and helpful. this is not the Monte Casino Bird Garden - its more organic but much more real.
The restaurant looked well set out though we chose not to eat that day.
