The museum was on he top floor of the city hall building, which is architecturally interesting. Most of the exhibits were contemporary in nature, and several rooms were closed off. On the floor below is a natural history museum, which was also under renovation.

Th3 whole gallery consist of gay pride photos and Africans in America. 2 rooms of exhibitions. First city art gallery we find this small in South Africa. Box ticking exercise.

We only had a few hours in Durban and took a cab from the Aquarium area to this City Hall Art Gallery and library combination. They had some interesting rooms of photography and another room featuring various tribal dress. Closes at 4 p.m. so go...More

this big gallery is in the city hall. the whole building has been most beautifully renovated and is a pleasure to visit. there are permanent works from artists of the area and in a central rotundrum some interesting shows are mounted. keep your eyes peeled...More

A wide selection of art, some audio which was not working/switched on. Some exhibits by an artist who was clearly using black, female, sexual domination as a theme which I felt unsuitable for a family outing. The staff were unhelpful.

What a pleasure to visit this gallery. I has Excellent pieces. It is clean and private. You can take your time and enjoy it inside. There is also security so, you are safe.

Good place for a lazy afternoon, gliding through the art works and the checking out the stuffed animals, birds and insects , even different types of beetles, well worth a visit.
