Wonderfull small park
Mar 2021
I love this small little park, Its easy reachable and you practically see all the amazing creatures of KZN like all the birds. It’s fairly small, but so does the entrance fee, so you would not spend mor then 30 minutes here, but it’s perfect for an daytrip actually. I like the place.

Wonderful place to visit
Dec 2019
I found this place on Tripadvisor and decided to give it a go - I am from Ireland so don't see a lot of exotic birds and as an amateur photographer jumped at the opportunity to get up close and personal with some. I wasn't disappointed, they have plenty of birds to look at, many are inside cages which some animal lovers may find annoying but to me, none of them looked distressed, they were all content and quite tame, some were even happy to talk to me. They have a regular bird display which is well worth attending, the trainer was very knowledgeable and entertaining.

The entrance fee is very good value and well worth it in my opinion as this place does conservation and need funds to continue that effort.

Kids enjoyed it
Dec 2019 • Family
To keep the kids entertained this is a must, they have 2 shows daily which is very nice...

A lot of birds which we might never see

All the animals are well looked after and we saw with our own eyes when they cleaned the bird baths and swimming dams.

It is worth the visit....

What a gem. Stunning bird park literally in the middle of Durban. The free flight bird show was very entertaining and the birds across the park delighted us all. Well worth a visit

The Umgeni bird park is much better than we expected. They have birds from all over the world . Twice a day they have a bird show This isn't a glitzy commercial place but low key ,interesting and educational. very inexpensive too. They have waterfalls down the cliff and a nice little lunch place with sandwiches and drinks at reasonable prices.Great place to take kids.

A bit sad
Nov 2019 • Couples
For people who get upset about seeing animals in captivity/ small spaces I would not recommend going to this place. Unfortunately the photos showed a different view of the place.
They also feature birds who were in small cages for their size, and birds that were by themselves. It was evident by the birds who were trained for the shows that they were scared of human interaction and hadn’t eaten before the shows so they perform better. Also these birds have been shipped from all around the world and put into a foreign environments which was also upsetting as I thought it might be of been only native birds.
These animals are wild and should be left in there natural environment.
The lady who ran the show was very educated and friendly.

Enjoyable visit. Felt the admission price should have been more.

Lots of lovely birds. Nicely laid out. There was a bird show which we enjoyed. Conservation program along with the Montecasino bird park in Sandton. Small snack bar. Children's pay area. Worth a visit.
