The concept is excellent: Soweto was a fascinating destination to discover by bike. The guides were highly knowledgeable and friendly (special thanks to Sipho). HOWEVER, I cannot recommend this tour until the owner, Lebo, gets all bikes in roadsafe condition. At 6′3″ I am no longer exceptionally tall, and among Lebo’s many bikes I found a few whose frames were... More

Initially we were reluctant to do this trip due to the political turmoil and suffering of the Soweto residents under apartheid. We thought that 2 white tourists pedaling around Soweto may not be a wise thing - we were entirely wrong. We were made to feel very welcome and local assured us that they welcomed tourists as they brought income... More

This Tour, this event and these hosts are definitely a bucket-list item. Warm, inviting, knowledgeable, so very friendly, food was great, they took their time with those that needed a bit of extra help and nothing was impossible. We also celebrated a colleagues 10 year work anniversary and set up balloons and a projector in the little section near the... More

We really loved this tour. It was the start of school holidays so there were lots of kids in the village and we had a nice time interacting with them. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate about the area. We did the 4 hour tour and it whized by. Would definitely recommend spending the extra time.

As per previous reviews if there is only one thing to do in Joberg area this is it. You get to see and meet so many different things and people. Our guide was excellent, the food traditional and delicious..When I come back on holiday to S.A I will also stay at SOWETO backpackers as it is lovely place. Bike tour... More

Fascinating learnt so much saw the poverty yes but saw much more that would inspire . Tye school kids in uniform , well appointed schools and kindergartens smiling faces . Historical facts , emotional moments at the site of the uprising , nelson mandalas home after his release and Desmond Tutus house and the dispelling of pre conceived ideas of... More

Soweto is legendary and we are very found of bicycle tours. When we found out about this tour we were exited and chose the four hour alternative. Despite the high expectation we were impressed. This Soweto bicycle tour is a great mix of peaking into the life in a very interesting township as well as a tour of historically important... More

This was such an eye opener and fun tour. Our guide was a young man living in Soweto and he was very smart and we had very good discussions. He knew his way around and told us lot about the places and their history. Cycling up and down the streets of Soweto, all the poor neighborhoods and rich neighborhoods and... More

Having grown up as a white person under apartheid, I had never visited a black township, so the opportunity to visit Soweto by bicycle seemed a good idea. What an eye-opener! The bikes were in good condition and well looked after and our black guides were fluent in English - about their 8th language - and really brought the history... More
