Our guide told us that when Nelson Mandela agreed to have the square named after him he did not know it would be a shopping mall. It is unfortunate that that is exactly what it is

The square is so beautiful! I love the nelson Mandela statue, larger the life! Sandton city offers the best boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants around! Definitely worth an afternoon visit

A Most modern area and excellent safety for Travellers. One can find excellent restaurants with many choices as also good amount of shopping. A boon to travellers as other attractions close quite early - by 5 pm so a respite to and OASIS for travellers.

Lively upmarket mall with a stunning statue of Nelson Mandela in the square. We did find some people there a little pretentious though. Funny how those that desperately want to be rich have to act so hard to appear that way??? Otherwise, a good place to watch people!

The Nelson Mandela Square has a few stores. Most of them are quite expensive. The main attraction is a giant statue of Mandela. The big deal is definitely the restaurants. Plenty of great places to eat. I would rather just walk across to Sandton City Shopping Center. There are more stores that vary in pricing.

couldn't believe this, it is a very large square with so many shops and restaurants and cafes, over the many wide passageways, and a couple of levels it took us a few hours to walk around it.

Really? So many years on and he's still treated as a saint? Inherited a functioning country, added nothing, yes, probably helped to avoid major fall-out (read: civil war), but beyond that? Being a "major" attraction? Really?
