Welcome to an Eden hidden in the West Rand of Gauteng where beautiful nature welcomes visitors and the rushing water of the Witpoortjie Waterfall, gushing from a height of 70 metres, soothes and revitalises careworn city-dwellers. The garden is home to a pair of breeding Verreaux's Eagles (Black Eagles) which have become proud symbols of this majestic garden. Walking, hiking, picnics, exercising, bird watching, relaxing, nature appreciation, are some of the popular activities of visitors to the garden.

This is such a special spot for nature - and the black eagles are the added bonus. Good for a walk or a picnic or if you're lucky enough to catch a concert in the garden. Wouldn't recommend the local café, service is good, food...More

We went to the gardens for a friends birthday last week. I had obviously heard about the park, residing in Jhb, but never been. As soon as you enter, you see well kept lawns, trees offering shade and great picnicking spots, and a quiet atmosphere....More

A wonderful place to have a picnic, relax, breathe in the fresh air and unwind. The waterfall is breathtaking and the gardens are a beautiful sight. There's plenty of space for children to play including a jungle gym area.

A hidden waterfall with the area surrounding it so peaceful. There are Sunday orchestras on Sunday. This is a great picnic spot.

What a lovely day out to enjoy what nature has to offer! I was hiking all by myself. At no stage did I feel unsave. It was very hot, so it is advisable to take enough drinking water with. Had a good workout though!

I was pleasantly surprised by the manner in which the park was maintained. Very peaceful. A great place to take the family out for the day and enjoy a picnic!

We've been to most of the metro city botanical gardens and so far this one is definitely one of the best. When you first enter you get some glimpses of Kirstenbosh in Cape Town. It's obviously a lot smaller but very well kept. It's almost...More

The sprawling gardens are a great place for families to relax. For the indigenous enthusiast like myself, there are great trees and shrubs to admire and think of using in your own garden. A great asset for Jhb, though it is a bit of a...More
