Spent a lovely day at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens with my family. Gardens are well kept. The hike trail was manageable for my 9 and 12 year old girls.

The gardens offer a chance to enjoy nature in close vicinity to the city Depending on your plans, you can pack food or get something from the restaurant It can get busy so plan your day to arrive early or later to see if you can avoid the crowds

We hiked up and around the mountain. It’s a bit strenuous but worth the view! The kids could do it quite easily. I would recommend taking some water and snacks along to stop, and take some time out of the busy city life and enjoy the view. We went at the end of winter; would absolutely do back in the summer when everything is green. It’s a nice quick break into nature.

Such an exquisite hidden gem! Stunning natural waterfall. Loved seeing the two black eagles nesting at the top of the waterfall. Saw many birds including the Golden Tailed Wood Pecker, Striped Kingfisher, African Hornbill, African Black Duck and a Sunbird amongst others and loads of weavers building their nests. Beautiful trails under the trees and a geological walkway. Remember to take binoculars and a camera with. It makes the spotting so much easier. Also a lovely restaurant to enjoy afterwards.
