Was not quite what we were expecting, the area was a little tattty and the restaurant had very little choice. Its a novel day out and fun to try once. Road to it not great

Hi
I am glad you had a good time at the maze. To address your comments:
1. Road - some navigation systems direct people down farm roads for some reason. We have spoken to Garmin and Tomtom, but there seems to be nothing we can do to change this. If you follow our map, and come straight along Beyers and right at Alfresco into Boland, the roads are perfect.
2. Restaurant: We do not have one - only a small tuck shop which sells hot-dogs and Bockwurst rolls, as there are so many places to eat nearby.
3. Tatty - not sure what you mean by this - we are on a farm and it is winter, so things do look brown. We have kept the atmosphere relaxed and casual so people can just enjoy the wonderful acacia trees and run about and have fun.

I'm not sure if my expectations were too high, or if the 40 minute drive from our Johannesburg hotel set me up for failure.
The maze was cute, I expected that the maize would be higher and more... 'magical' feeling.
You are given a clip board with an answer sheet and it is explained that you are to follow the maze and find the clues to fill in your answers, this was entertaining and added an element of competition to the activity.
My friends and I competed against each other to get the most correct answers.
The staff were fantastic, they were helpful and exceptionally nice.
However, it was a very hot day and there is little shade, the questions are somewhat random and at times very ambiguous.
It was a rule that you cannot go through the corn to get to a new lane, or to the exit, however, after walking around for an hour in the sun and reaching the end to realise you missed a question and being told to go back in, my mood plummeted and I ended up taking a short cut to just get it over with.
It was a nice treat to be given an ice-block at the end.

This was an incredible experience, we has so much fun and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We did the moonlight maze and had endless laughs, can't wait to get back there and do it all over again. Definitely worth every penny. This is a fun event for all ages alike :)

We travelled 40 mins in an uber based on tripadvisor reviews. The gate was open and we went in. We waited 15 minutes at the entrance to pay for entry and buy a drink and got completely ignored by the two men in there, one of whom was wearing a honeydew mazes tshirt. To be honest, it looked less than amazing and 150ZAR seemed a steep entrance fee, so we cut our losses and left. Or tried to...locked in now and had to search for someone to let us out. Apparently only open at weekends. Probably worth pointing out the seasonality of the place - the maize is currently very short, making the maze rather unexciting looking.

I am sorry you were inconvenienced.
Our website, and the sign at the gate, quite clearly states, that we are only open for casual visitors at the week-ends and public holidays. During the week, we are open for corporate events and schools, which are pre-booked and pre-paid.
We are not 'seasonal' and have 2 giant mazes, one of which is completely hidden from the courtyard area.
The only staff here, were our gardening staff, who have no responsibility for the maze. The gate was not open, it was opened to let in a delivery, and you chose to walk in without permission.
We are currently not in that that maze, so actually, you have no comment on the maze experience.

The mazes here change constantly (about twice a year) but this is alot of fun. Weather dependent, can spend a half day here with the games before the maze and maze time. Lotsa fun in teams, is a great way to test your patience. Not too pricey, def worth the drive to Honeydew.

took a team of highly competitive sales consultants for a day in the maze, pardon the pun but the amazing learnings had by all concerned was interesting to observe. Advise any company looking for a time to confuse but learn a lot during the debrief to use this Maze. Can be repeated annually as a new maze is planted every year

We visited Honeydew Mazes on the weekend, and was thoroughly surprised by how much fun it was. It was like climbing in a time machine and going back to being a kid.
The main maze is simply amazing with very nice designed gardens and quite challenging quizzes.
The overall enjoyment for everyone in the group was immense! Everything is organised very well and the staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and always there to assist.
Thanks for an awesome Sunday guys!

Worth making a day of this, pack a picnic or take something for the braai (they have facilities on site). Going through the large maze takes quite a while so make sure you have water with you. Its a lot of fun doing it with the kids as they can run ahead an scout, leaving the adults to their leisurely stroll.

Great venue for outdoors teambuilding for the not too energetic extreme kind of people. Lots of fun. Something different

Hi - all information on our website is correct - please have a look at the kids party page, and e-mail me directly - I can then send you the party letter - I also have invites.
Parties are held at the week-ends - you are welcome to just come as a family - R100 per child and R150 per adult - but if kids are being dropped off for parties, then you need to book.
