The last house in which President Paul Kruger was to live, between 1883 and 1901, before he left South Africa to go into exile in Europe, the Kruger House Museum lies just a few blocks from Church square, where his bronze statue takes centre stage facing the Palace of Justice.
Lutseuds experience the history of the Paul Kruger for his entire life and why the Kruger National Park name after Him.

Paul Kruger's home in Pretoria is nestled in between modern buildings and offices, but step in and you are transported back in time. Well kept. Good collection of antiques as well.

My family of 4 visited the Kruger House Museum and found it to be educational. Learnt more about Kruger himself, who used to reside here, and also about the Boar war. There are several antique collections throughout the museum including a train coach used during Kruger’s time. Certainly would very highly recommend visiting this museum to any traveler.

I visited this Museum with Congolese friends, so we were all strangers in South Africa. Paul Kruger was a leader of the Boer War between the Afrikaners of Dutch origin and the British, which the Afrikaners lost. The home itself was very interesting with a lot of furniture, portraits, kitchen equipment. Also, there is an antique railroad car, plus a room full of historical documents related to early Afrikaner history. For history buffs, this is so interesting, increasing my American interest in this bit of African history.

This is a rich man´s European home.
What is strange is that it is in Africa and the only old buildings in a modern neighbourhood. Similar musea you may find in Europe, but hardly with a personal train and trainstation. Still it was fascinating to see, worth a visit and very well kept.

Twice I have visited Kruger House Museum with my guests and the air-conditioner in the Exile Hall exhibition has not been working. The room temperature was high which made it difficult for one to spend time and go over materials on display.

Good history lesson on Paul Kruger's life and the time frame in South African history. Not a large museum and but well done.

The President's House has been turned into a museum, which helps to tell the story of the Republic of South Africa. Kruger was a much revered politician and he was instrumental in establishing Kruger National Park. We should be thankful for this legacy. The displays in the museum vary in quality and some of the exhibits are incomplete (our guide assured us that some things had been removed). His railway car is stored at the rear of the property. The gardens were very well maintained at the time of our visit.

I drove to the House, there is a semi-managed independent car-park in "bloom street" next door but one to the House. Where I parked for R10. The House is on a busy street, coaches were parked outside but fortunately as I made my way in the crowd had already moved through. It is a R25 per person cost, you pay in the small gift shop entrance and then you basically walk through the house. It is laid out in a way that you wind through the rooms towards the back yard of the house. It is important to note, whilst it is Paul Krugers House it isn't as he left it as it became a boarding house and something else for a good 40 or so years.
So the building has been reconstructed as to how they think it looked, it is a modest building and the decoration and fittings reflect the life he is said to have led. There are loads of pictures / paintings / items / statesman gifts / and a wealth of history of the man. The two halls in the back yard, have more information including saddle, gun, carriage, train carriage and a fascinating travel cart with a letterbox on it.
I learnt an awful lot about Paul Kruger in a very small period of time and for that one reason it was an excellent museum dedicated to a fascinating man and a big part of South African History.
Things they can do to improve: Wipe the windows / glass panes more often as it was disappointing to try and see through mucky glass.
There is a small gift shop / toilets on site.

The museum is very well-kept and tells the story of Paul Kruger with a great deal of memorabilia. As he is a direct relative I was excited and the museum didn't disappoint. It really takes you back in time to see how he lived in the day and how he related to other countries - there were many gifts from other countries supporting and celebrating him. An excellent museum telling the story of one of South Africa's heroes. If you're in Pretoria, go see it!
