The Cheetah Centre in South Africa was established in 1971, initially as a cheetah breeding project and the Centre has during the past 40 years bred over 800 cheetah cubs. Various conservation projects have been initiated since its inception which also inlcudes a successful African wild dog breeding programme. Known in the past as the De Wildt Cheetah Centre the name has recently been changed to the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as a tribute to the woman who has devoted her life to the survival of the cheetahs as well as other rare and endangered species

The tour we got was hosted by 2 employees and they really know a lot about the animals. However the way it'e presented is standard. They just tell their standard story and answer some questions. A quit uninterested attitude. If you opt for a meet & greet with aa cheeta they take pictures. However all our pictures failed despite a... More

Our family group of 6 visited the centre for a close-up encounter with a king cheetah and a feeding visit to all the different animals on the reserve. Very informative with well educated guides that provided fascinating insights into the work they do at the centre.

We called them in the morning as the website was not 100% clear on which tour was available. We had to drive from Dullstroom and managed to be there on time. The reservation by phone worked out well as the tour was fully booked (26 people). Very friendly reception, a nice and short introductory film. And then the tour: a... More

We love animals so this was a must for us. And we were not disappointed. Nice experience, very knowledgable guide. Feel good that with our visit we could have also supported the project preserving these beautiful animals (including the wild dogs, vultures and many others :)) Definitelly recommended!

Family of three visited recently, and enjoyed the experience. As well as the caged cheetah which are rescue animals, there are other excitements such as the honey badger. There is a 'game drive' out to see other endangered SA animals including vultures and other small cats. You get to see cheetah and african wild dogs being fed, which is also good.... More

This is a fantastic parc, where animals are treated with respect, love and passion. During the guided tour, you'll learn the personal story of each animal, beit cheetahs, wild dogs, meerkats, vultures, ... Tip: pay the extra 50rd for the ambassador experience (=contact with a cheetah)
