This museum needs a major revamp. It is billed as a National Cultural museum, but beyond a few displays (notably one on the San) it really is an eclectic mix of bits and pieces that have been salvaged from somewhere and agglomerated in displays. The...More

Visited the museum on a Saturday afternoon. Was surprised to be only visitors, the museum had to be opened for us. Informative, especially with displays relating to primary school history work. For this I urge all parents to bring the children to the museum. Children...More

We spent several hours browsing the museum. There are several well designed displays, which are all thoughtfully annotated. We saw noone else, except in the popular cafe, where the coffee was excellent.

The museum showcases cultural life of communities living in Southern Africa. But most display rooms were empty; could be I visited in between displays. The Steve Biko display which was the main display, however, stood out. The museum's potential is however being laid to waste,...More

I am sorry to have to rate this museum so low, as it has a lot of potential, but it is really very disappointing. There are a number of thematic exhibitions the purpose of which seems to be to show what a cultural museum does,...More

Well its not a wonderful museum but its it not bad, however the place and exhibitions have so much potential. I must have visited the museum in between exhibits or something, but the place needs work as well as visitors.
