Elephant Walk 4-Hour Guided Tour from Johannesburg

18 reviews
If you’d love to interact with elephants but find the notion of riding, feeding, or bathing them exploitative, this is the experience for you. Accompanied by a veteran wildlife guide, walk through the African bush with three free-roaming, semi-habituated elephants. Stroll where they stroll, watch them feed, and admire their soft and silent footsteps. Your package includes lunch, water, hot drinks, and round-trip transfer.

Spent the afternoon on Friday after a stressed week. I am a regular visitor. Four hours of slow driving with windows open. Recent burning and new growth meant lots of game with many opportunities for photography. Bird life in abundance but slow and time averse is the trick. Plan your trip. Binoculars, bird book, a charged camera, snacks and drinks - you’ll have a great time. Research the history of Rietvlei beforehand for a more interesting experience.

Beautiful reserve in the heart of a metropolitan city. Great to drive around and see the antelopes and large variety of birds. Lovely little coffee shop to stop over for lunch.

Suitable for the solo traveller, or groups. Sightings are excellent, with a good variety of wildlife. The coffee shop offers basic eats and drinks. Entrance fee is reasonable. The picnic/braai area is stunning - visited previously, and not on my most recent visit, as it is closed due to Covid19 regulations. Really a day well spent.

The toilets were disgusting, so dirty and no sanitizer! No map or broacher on arrival, roads are so narrow, only a few animals. Haven’t been questioned or screamed for COVID purposes.

Precious and rare in a country that disrespects what public service should be. PLEASE correct the spelling, it is Nelmapius Road and it is Centurion!
