Great place to spend a Saturday morning...the homemade ginger bear from the tea garden was amazing (and not overly sweet)

We went to Irene Market around 9am and there were quite a lot of people already. If you're into a great variety of fresh, yummy home-made food and clothes/jewelry/decorations/bags, etc, this is the place to visit! I went with my mom and we spent over two hours there! I would suggest go there early to avoid traffic into parking place.

We love going to Irene Market. The stalls are very nice selling original hand made products and the food for sale is to die for. We love visiting this market as a family and the children enjoy this just as much.

This market is truly a "real" one with goods made by hand. No commercial junk. It's on Jan Smuts one of the presidents of SA his old farm includes his original house presidential car and old tank with a musuem. The food area catered for every taste bud. I came from Durban to see this market. I saw families with... More

After relocating from Pretoria to Cape Town, I have not been to this market for many years. I'm pleased to say that they are still original and have many creative and original crafts for sale. It is the best place to shop for gifts and the food stalls also have plenty to choose from at decent prices.

At a time when every other suburb has a flea/farmer's market Irene definitely stands out as a space that is a little more thought out. The location is quite nice and generally easy to get to even if you're not familiar with Pretoria. The layout of the market is good - with similar stalls being bunched together which makes it... So much to see, so little time to experience all that is on offer. You could spend an entire day taking in all the arts and crafts.

This market is set in the lovely village of Irene, near Pretoria, at the Jan Smuts musuem. About 40 - 45 minutes’ drive from Johannesburg. Open every first and last Saturday of the month from 09h00 – 14h00. Free parking on the grounds and clean toilets are provided. This is predominantly a country market; full of charm and beautiful stalls.... More

It is always a pleasure to visit Irene Market. The ambience is warm and friendly. Musicians doing their own thing in the background. The available crafts are unique and original. Always something different. The crafters are eager to assist you (without overwhelming you). A nice tea garden. First Saturday and last Saturday of each month until 14:00.
