Elephant Walk 4-Hour Guided Tour from Johannesburg

18 reviews
If you’d love to interact with elephants but find the notion of riding, feeding, or bathing them exploitative, this is the experience for you. Accompanied by a veteran wildlife guide, walk through the African bush with three free-roaming, semi-habituated elephants. Stroll where they stroll, watch them feed, and admire their soft and silent footsteps. Your package includes lunch, water, hot drinks, and round-trip transfer.

We attended a Succulent Festival and took the opportunity to walk around much of the gardens. It was a cost time visit. Covid-19 notices were visible at the entrance, but no-one checked hands were sanitized and no temperatures were taken. Many visitors ignored mask wearing. The areas near the entrance were neat and obviously well cared for. Venturing further into the gardens things deteriorated. There was nothing wrong with the wilder natural areas they were add they should be, natural. But the demarcated areas such as the succulent section need upkeep. Signs were damaged or missing and the gardens themselves neglected. If you keep to the more open areas it is, however, lovely. We even saw dassies.

The gardens were in a terrible state. Bottles lying around in the gardens and weeds growing everywhere! It was a national disgrace!

One of the best group function dinners I've ever had was at this restaurant with its view of the gardens and a great buffet. The garden walks are also some of the best walks available in Pretoria. At the price you should make a day of it, don't be hurried.

Restaurant is lovely. Gardens are beautiful but there are not enough benches for the elderly or families to sit on. Not good.

Good variety of African flora. I was particularly impressed with the succulents garden. There was a garden show or sale on when I went so it was very busy, and the parking was full.
