The gardens are well-kept with a reasonable entrance fee. There is a restaurant in the garden which we did not try. There are short trails, ducks and a waterfall which can keep you busy. Benches are also littered through the park if you haven't brought a picnic mat

A wonderful spot to unwind. A great variety of flora and fauna of South Africa. There is a fun man made waterfall. There are several trails that take you to most corners of the park. The trails are not very clearly marked.

This botanical garden is beautifully laid out with plenty of secure parking. Staff are friendly and at the coffee shop you get the best ever cheese cake! Many people take picnics which is a great way to enjoy this wonderful place. We are sure to return on our next visit to Pretoria!

Gisela de Villiers on Face Book Options for this storyI took a Swedish visitor to the Botanical Gardens yesterday. We had lunch at the Mokha restaurant there. It was surreal- they didn't have the fruit juice he ordered. He tried 3 different kinds, none available. He orders the salmon + avo salad. Waiter comes back and says the avo's are all overripe. So we compromise with feta cheese. I order the biltong and peppadew tramezzini. Waiter comes back- no peppadews. By this time I'm looking for a candid camera. The waiter says he's embarassed by the kitchen- he's just the messenger, he says. So we plough through the very uninspiring food- think dry bread and old biltong- very VERY old biltong- and me not wanting to put up a hell of a fight in front of this person, whom I don't know, really. So I thought I'd tell you. THE MOKHA RESTAURANT AT THE BOTANICAL GARDENS IN PRETORIA STINKS.

The Pretoria Botanical Gardens are clean and well cared for. We had a family picnic there and people of various ages seemed to enjoy it. There are easy and slightly more challenging walks to go on through a diverse range of created and natural habitats. My son was disappointed that his rugby ball was not allowed to be taken in. I thought that this was probably to preserve the peace and quiet of others, but then some other visitors manage to bring balls in and play with them, probably because they weren't on display.

A family morning hike with friends in the Botanical Gardens ended with a delicious lunch at the restaurant.
We walked through the beautiful kept Gardens. And for a while we forgot we were in a big city.
Ample parking with a guard at the gate and a minimal entrance fee at the Gardens’ entrance.
Many different walkways and paths. Enough easy routes for people with prams or elderly people. And a bit more challenging routes going uphill with steps.
(Remember your hats & sunscreen.)
Lunch afterwards were in the shade of big old trees. And some place for the kids to run & play.
Service was good and fast. The food was great!
Delicious, freshly made and generous portions. And the menu offers a wide variety to choose from.
We will definitely visit the Botanical Gardens on a more regular basis from now on.

Relax while listening to an afternoon concert in the park or simply just spend your Sunday afternoon reading the paper with the sound of nature around you. Food and drinks available on site with a small curio shop.

This is where my park run home is which happens every Saturday morning. It is so much fun. Usually I walk just so I get to see the beautiful views and read the information cards.
Great for picnics and weddings photos and for chill outs as there are restaurants

Hey I want to do a son's birthday picnic with balloons as part of decorating will the park allow that?
Good day...I was deeply disappointed when visiting the Botanical. Thinking it was a place of enjoyment where one can relax and enjoy nature at it best...I was greeted with people drinking, smoking and playing loud music. The place was strewn with litter as if the people just did not care. If this trend continues imagine what the place will look like in the future ???? People were sitting on top at the waterfall or water feature and could easily have slipped resulting in a fatal accident. Just like everything else that is going to the dogs in SA it is not surprising that you cannot even have a peaceful picnic.
Hi, please can you advice me who we can contact regarding a wedding date for next year.. Regards, Wilma
