A catacomb of gastronomic delights. Craft deli foods, up-cycled, recycled everything from clothing to ornaments and toys. A fun, relaxed place to spend a Sunday.

Came here on a walking tour by CurioCity, came back the next day for the Sunday market. In the new arty district of Jozi, but both times I came here my Uber drivers were wary of the area. Fab place, one of many hoping to...More

Vibrant, interesting gathering of eclectic South African and other African cultures. Visit Artists' studios and galleries. Market with the usual stuff but also hidden gems of amazing crafting.Great food- my fave is the Ethiopian fare...yum!. Fab place to take overseas guests.

Right in the heart of Jozi city is this vibrant little space where art and food create the perfect vibe on a lazy Sunday. Music, arts, international foods and interesting people find their way here. Salsa dancing on the rooftop happens too. A must visit.

Trip Report - 4 Days in Johannesburg (17 Replies)
I usually do not write trip reports, but I felt that Johannesburg doesn't get the due it deserves and is a gem in the rough for tourism. Plus I really enjoyed my visit! A big thanks to all of the Destination Experts on this forum who know the city so well and work so hard to provide info. Landed at JNB and made it through customs and immigration in a few minutes. After hitting the ATM made my way over to the Gautrain to head over to Rosebank where I was staying. Could not have been...More

Well, thank you very much for your input, and kind words about my city. I am so pleased you enjoyed your (too short) time in Johannesburg Johannesburg consistently gets such a bad rep. mostly from people who have never been here, or people who left 20 or 30 years ago, and have never been back. Please spread the word, and, when you come back again, as I know you will, you will enjoy it just as much. Try to come in late October early November. You will not believe how beautiful it is here,...More
