Love this place. Informal, artsy and bustling with all sorts of people. Get there early to get a seat in the restaurant or you will stand or sit on the ground. Lovely bar for late afternoon with dancing if you fancy. Great selection of foods at various stalls and lovely artwork and clothing for sale. Go spend a Sunday, time well spent.

Enjoyed a great Sunday afternoon eating, drinking and buying all kinds of local crafts. This is a must visit if you are looking for a fun Sunday morning or afternoon. The Market on Main closes at 4:30 but there are plenty of other places in the neighborhood that stay open later.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Maboneng and we stayed in the area the entire time except for tours so it was fantastic to be able see the many artists and do any remaining souvenir shopping here. Definitely a must do if you are in the area on Sundays.

This complex of art establishments, shops, food stands and the Canteen restaurant was a very cool place to spend a Sunday afternoon. There was Salsa music and dancing on the rooftop deck of Canteen and the arts complex food and beverage choices were endless with a wide array of small mom and pop style establishments. There was a full bar and the food and drink prices were very reasonable from a Western cost perspective. This is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon of relaxation, shopping and people watching.

We visited early in the day (around 11) and not many were open. The open Art Gallery were friendly with very interesting projects.
They are open on Saturday and that maybe a better time to visit.

This is my second time visiting this market. It's kind of cool because it's on the Fourth Floor of the mall so it's in a really safe location. I've purchased briefcases, pottery, African traditional items, unrefined shea butter, rugs, and love them all. Huge variety of things to purchase, plus really good food and drink.

This place breathes art and food! Colours and smells, such a visual pleasure for the eyes and sensorial for the soul, great food places around, lovely for a wonderful stroll around. Vibey and it feels fairly safe.

A really funky area with a great vibe. There were endless galleries and little shops. Wanted to have lunch at The Canteen but they were fully booked. I wish I had had more time there. Another good reason to go back to Joburg.

We had an absolutely wonderful day! There were so many different impressions: all the different art and crafts were very interesting, and we certainly got some shopping done. There were many different stalls with different merchandise, and it felt (and loojed) very genuine. The highlight, still, was probably lunch: a mind-blowing array of cuisins from all over the world that made choosing almost impossible! There was a urban, yet very comfortable feeling throughout, and we had a great time!
