I don't know if it is just Covid, but a lot about the Joburg Zoo seems sad. Nothing really maintained well. The kids loved seeing the animals, but I am not sure I would recommend the place. It is sad to see so much in need of repair, even if it is just aesthetic.

Really enjoyed our visit to Jhb Zoo. The themed sections are done really well and the animals all looked health. My toddler son loved the Amazon aquarium section the most. My only niggle was that the rotunda overlooking the lion enclosure had lots of litter mostly from what looked like pamphlets strewn all over the floor. Was a great pity as the rest of the park was spotless. Would recommend and will return.

We had a great day with friends at the zoo. Even though it was a Sunday it was surprisingly quiet. We enjoyed the sunshine, large variety of exhibits and lunch outside the Chimpanzee enclosure. It all get safe, appropriately socially distanced and a perfect covid outing; especially if you want a safe way to see friends and family.

Was good fun, some of the enclosures need care, that said, a wonderful day out for everyone, with many animals to see.

From entry to exit we had a lovely time at the zoo. The staff were helpful and friendly. The zoo itself was clean and the enclosures are more spacious than other zoos I have seen. There was a large variety of animals that my niece really enjoyed looking at. There are lovely lawns for picnics or cafes and stalls to buy food. As the zoo is so large you would need an entire day to cover all of it and we missed quite a lot in the half-day we spent there. Although the bathrooms were clean there was only hand sanitizer available and no soap and no toilet paper. There are lots of bathrooms around the zoo so maybe others would have been better. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend for a day out.
