We spent a couple of hours here today. Its an open space and you could to jog, walk your dog or ride a bike. The Emmarentia dam provides a good place to see birds but there is nothing else. No restrooms and the cafe was just a kiosk. Maybe it's better in the summer. Wouldn't recommend it.

Emmarentia is a great source of serenity and a hub of outdoor activity anytime of the year. The dam offers a number of activities such as canoeing or even stand up paddleboarding. The park itself is full of runners and cyclers and dogs are allowed too, even though they are mostly on the other end of the park. There is... More

Incredible place a serene preserve of nature. A must visit place for all travelling to South Africa. Inhale the fresh crisp air and get rejuvenated! The lake there is a virtual sanctuary for amphibians. Happy to have been there.

It was the first place I visited in Jozi and for my surprise it was bigger and quiter than I expected and for sure a worth place to stay and hang out with friends and/or family. As I noticed it sounds a suitable place for picnic, biking and cannoying.

Spent an afternoon strolling around. I would more call it a park than a Botanical Garden. Been a Saturday afternoon and the sun out it was well utilized by the public. With children's parties, couples and groups all over the place. Had a lunch at the restaurant which I found friendly and well priced. A section of the park is... More

It was a great outing, kids playing freely and no rowdy people. Could have done with a bit more bins

Nice for walks with or without dog...just enjoying nature with lot of benches to sit and watch nature and the scenery. Flying Ice Cream sellers and some possibilities to buy drinks and food (close to lake)

this is a casual relaxing area to unwind and visit at the same time with your family while ambling along in the beautiful gardens. Such fun and we even saw some frisky little animals running around which was fun. Such a lovely area to visit.

Calling this park a botanical garden is a bit of an exaggeration. True plant lovers will feel cheated at this place. Having said that, it is a large park that seems safe to go for a run. Unfortunately, the pathways end at random places and you are forced to switch between paved stone, dirt and grass, something that is not... More

Fabulous gardens and well kept. Special areas for dogs to run around. Do the effort and stroll the whole pathway. Generally the gardens are in good condition. We frequent the park regularly and enjoy the Sunday walks. Fantastic way to spend the afternoon with a picnic basket
