Enjoyed the very good exhibition exploring South Africa's and the Free State's rich history. Well maintained and definitely worth to visit when in Bloemfontein

The place is well managed and have a lot of surprising features, eg you can try for yourself to pick up an asteroid (remains of a shooting star) that fell in the area; the dinosaur -, space- and Bloemfontein town development exhibitians are also done extremingly well! Vibrant and fresh presentation,,,thanks!! :-)

Visited the museum recently and were so impressed with the way it is kept! Please allow more than an hour for the visit. They also have some interesting displays that are not open to all the public.

I have visited this museum previously in my life and compared to other museums in South Africa and found it to be better than any other in this country. It is clean (as compared to the one in Pretoria) ans with soul (as compared to the one in Cape Town) and found the staff such a pleasure. Spend some time... More

The displays are well designed, interesting and informative, covering a variety of topics and interests. I particularly enjoyed the paleontological, archaeological and ethnographic displays, as well as the mock-up of a section of a Bloemfontein street at about the turn of the 19th to 20th century, and the history of Batho black township. I did not visit the zoological displays... More

The Museum is not so big, and largely showcases animals and natural history. There was a display of Bloemfontein's development over the years, with street and house reconstructions of what the city was. This was more interesting than the natural history display; it left me with a feeling that the curators should have made the natural history displays more interesting.... More
