Amazing experience canoeing down the river and back / about 3 hours on Sunday. Lots of picnic spots along the route.

Please insist on paying by card or filling out the permit book.
We were asked to pay cash on Sunday as the machine signal is poor.

We paid R200 cash (charge was R50 each and R150 for "full day" use of canoe) - no receipt, and today we went back to pay the remainder R50.
The guard again insisted on cash and I asked for EFT details, of which there were none. He asked me to pay it into his personal account then he will draw the money tonight to log. I refused and miraculously the card machine got a signal.

Also then only we were asked to fill out and sign the Permit book but requested to do so without noting our activity / amount. I refused to sign unless those details were recorded - he then rectified it by recording the previous day's activities.

This scenario left a bitter taste unfortunately and hope that management can address this with their staff.

We tried to get close to the Keurboomsriver. The only spot that was possible was the Nature Reserve. We wanted to stop off for 20 min. They wanted to charge R60 per person. This was totally unacceptable. We left. THe rest of this river seems to be taken up with private homes and complexes. Its a pity.

We decided we needed some serious exercise whilst staying in Plett so we went to the Keurbooms River Nature reserve left just after the Keurbooms River Bridge on the N2 towards PE.It falls under Cape Nature and has a couple of chalets to rent , camp sites, braai areas and kayaks for renting. We took a picnic and plenty of water and did the 6 km paddle up the river to Whisky Creek . On the way back we pulled the kayak onto a beach and had a swim and lunch. The 6 km paddle back was a little more strenuous as we were into the wind. A most enjoyable paddle in a beautiful un spoilt area with trees and birdlife. You don't have to do a 12 km paddle there are shorter options as there are a number of picnic spots on the way up the river.

We rented a small boat on a windy day and cruised down Keurbooms river. The gorge is stunning. We had a picnic on one of the small beaches and relaxed. What a lovely day!

The drive down from the main road is very scenic and the beach at the end is lovely but the sea is very rough and probably dangerous.

Such a nice tranquil morning up the river in a small motor boat. Jump off the rocks, stop for a picnic and swim in the river. Beautiful scenery.

Our hotel organised a 2 hour trip from the "Forever Resort" along the Kuerbooms river. The river flows through a steep sided, wooded gorge with a few birds visible but not much else. At the end of the part of the river navigable by motorised boats, there is a small sandbar where the boat anchors. This allows the opportunity to have a swim or just chill out and enjoy some sparkling wine. It's a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

We went in as a day visitor and hired a canoe to row up the river.
The scenery is beautiful and the ride so peaceful. There are a few little beaches to stop at along the way where u can stop and have a picnic or just watch the birds.

Do yourself a favour and take a little trip on the Keurbooms River Ferry down the river in the Keurbooms Nature Reserve just outside Plett. Cruise down the river in the company of your guide, Russell, who is very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area. Take along some nibbles for the always-hungry kids and picnic on the banks of the beautiful Whiskey Creek beach. Have a dip in the beer-gold water before heading back. So much fun for the whole family, even on a cloudy day.
