A popular tourist stop, this jail slid 225 feet downhill during a "land slippage" caused by the many mining shafts in the area.

4 because it is free. Grab some brews then come by to see the jail. Quite an interesting slide, 200+ feet. Parking will be an issue but there are a couple of slots right in front. Great place for pics. Weekends are quite busy in...More

When we first visited Jerome over 30 years ago, most of the buildings here looked like the Sliding Jail. Now, Jerome is revived and has become a destination with many, if not most structures restored. The Sliding Jail will give you a peak of what...More

It was so interesting to see how far this jail has slide down from its original location. Very neat and historic and an interesting little town.

The Jerome Sliding Jail is a structure in town that you can walk by and check out. We did--not very interesting--it is a historic piece of Jerome.

Parked nearby and this building caught my eye. Turns out it was the sliding jail. Really interesting history surrounding this place.

This place is kinda neat but not much to see. They have a couple old toilets and an outhouse that you can throw coins in from the fence. Neat old building.

The structure is falling apart but is definitely worth the look. It’s hard to find but if you find the basketball court it is directly below the court. Steps are off to the left and the placard description is at the top of the stairs.

We looked into the tours of Jerome, but they didn't get good reviews. We ended up driving to Jerome and walking around, and drove to what we couldn't walk to. Go to the 1918 Liberty Theatre and Gifts. They have some cool gifts and souvenirs....More

I have visited this town often, finding new things to visit and do each time. I think it is important historical things are still visible so we can see exactly how things were. Those were rough days. If the town ever is able to renovate...More
