Agree with other postings - takes but a few minutes to visit, snap a few photos. Visit the museum for history of Jerome and mine(s). Very interesting...

Not a lot to actually see so it's worth the few minutes it will take to stop by. It's smaller than I expected but the story of why and how it slid down the hill is very interesting. Due to the smelter there was a...More

This is directly across the street from the triangle shaped gravel parking lot near the middle of town. It is located next to the basketball court, so take a picture or two. Spend five minutes and you'll get your fill.

Yes, it was the first Jail on the Skid / Sliding Jail that I’d ever visited, but later questioned Why? OK for a Quickie walk to see it, but there’s much more in Jerome.

We saw this last on our trip and it wasn't really worth the walk down to it. Not sure why it just wasn't demolished. Nothing to really see, stay up in town and walk the shops.

This jail is only interesting because it slid down the hill in one piece. Unfortunately it is gated off such that you can't even get a good picture of it.

It is really small and not too well kept up. I thought it was going to be bigger, but it is just a tiny ruin in the middle of town.

4 because it is free. Grab some brews then come by to see the jail. Quite an interesting slide, 200+ feet. Parking will be an issue but there are a couple of slots right in front. Great place for pics. Weekends are quite busy in...More

When we first visited Jerome over 30 years ago, most of the buildings here looked like the Sliding Jail. Now, Jerome is revived and has become a destination with many, if not most structures restored. The Sliding Jail will give you a peak of what...More
