Just played the ,what i believe is the best course in Phoenix. Since living here since the early 80's ive played alot of golf at alot of different courses. The Course in Estrella is definitly a cant miss track if ever in Az. Besides being a Troon managed course which means TLC for the grounds. Starting with the levelest tee boxes to start every hole to the perfect lies from the fairways which i hit a good number of and was nicely rewarded. Definitly choose the tee box that fits your game ,theres alot of demanding carries over native washes, will make your round that much more enjoyable. The staff was great and ice cold towels from the cart girl was awesome.Last note .....bring your A game and keep it in the short grass the bunkers are very deep and have actual sand in them.Hope you all get the chance to play this "cant miss" course.....enjoy!

Paid to take my son to the range for some much needed practice. After paying $30 and being there for over an hour and a half they came out asking me if I had paid for a range pass. When I said yes, even told them who it was I paid, they still made me walk back inside. I walk back inside and Derek (whom I paid my money to) asked me if I paid. When I reminded him he said "Oh I forgot." If you don't dress like a golfer expect to be treated like garbage, even if you are a 8 year Estrella Resident. Absolutely pathetic and makes me want to quit my visits to the Players Grill that my wife enjoys.

Also found out that "Derek" lied to me and told me the manager was "Joe" when it is actually "Trevor."

The Golf Club at Estrella offers a challenging desert course. Nice clubhouse and food service with very courteous and friendly staff. Check for special rates on GolfNow. Bring lots of balls.

This s a great course! There is a variety of holes and the scenery makes for a relaxing experience. While the greens are tricky to read, the ball rolls well on these greens. The fairways were in great shape. The staff was very friendly and professional. At $79 per round the value was very good.

Played in a group of 6 at this course and from the moment we arrived until we left the experience was great. From the bag drop to the pro shop, the snack bar to the on course personal everybody was great to deal with. Polite, friendly, helpful and everything one could ask for.
The course was in great shape. Fast smooth greens. Fairways bunkers and tee boxes all in very good condition. A very enjoyable round of golf.

Below average and yet crowded, go figure. From the highway the fairways appear okay and they were, but on the interior, bone dry, hard as concrete and not defined. The pro shop attendant was friendly and polite. The parking was fine. Most of the greens were green. There's your highlights. I played there for $15.00 plus a free beer and hotdog, don't accept less.

Recently played this track as part of our boys golf trip in May 2012. Layout was fantastic with lots of elevation changes, great scenery and some very cool and challenging holes. Clubhouse and pro shop were great as was the practice facility and range where we encountered an agressive little constrictor snake of some type. Unfortunately the greens had been recently punched and heavily sanded when we played so were quite inconsistent and bumpy. A number of the greens also had large burnt out bare patches. Were it not for the state of the greens I would give this a 5 star rating. Paid around $90 with a free replay which was a nice touch. Not sure if I would return here given that it was an hour drive on the freeway at 85 per hour each way from North Scottsdale. It is in the middle of nowhere essentially so gets a thumbs down location wise unless you are staying in the south west valley area. Service and staff were friendly and professional and the food in the grill was excellent and reasonably priced.

The Jack Nicklaus II course is out of the way but it is definitely worth it. One of the best courses in the valley. It is operated by Troon Golf. The course can get a little dry but it is never in poor shape. I have played this every year I've been to Arizona at least once and I play all around the valley. It's worth the drive. I could come down to AZ and just play this course.

During our 2012 golf trip to the Phoenix area, we played one of our top-three all-time Arizona favorite courses, the Golf Club of Estrella. For $109 ($119 with all taxes and fees) we got 18 holes and cart, plus unlimited golf afterwards (if available), free access to the range, lunch, and a dozen Pro-V1 or Callaway golf balls. That is simply an amazing deal!

This is a very nice operation. The staff is friendly and helpful. The clubhouse is very nice, but small. The men’s locker room is not big at all. There is a small snack counter and a nice outside eating area. Nice practice facilities with the driving range and a large putting green behind the clubhouse, and another putting green down by the first tee.

What we really like is the course. Well maintained, great layout, extremely playable and fun to play. It is also one of the more scenic courses. There are great views and the course is routed through the desert to provide nice backdrops to many of the holes. There are houses along some of the holes, but most of the back nine is just the course and the desert. Very pretty setting and a very scenic course.

We ended up playing 18 in the morning from the Jade tees, then after lunch played the mixed tees (some Jade some from the shorter Silver tees). We only got in about 12 holes before bailing. The guys wanted to hit the Indians team shop at the Goodyear Baseball Complex before it closed at 5:00 (we just made it). Had we stayed, I think we would have finished the round before dark, but it would have been close. Play was a bit slow in the afternoon. I highly recommend this course, particularly if you can get the deal that we got.

Note that the course was called Estrella Mountain Ranch but has been renamed to the Golf Club at Estrella.

A well designed course that is scenic and challenging. Great golf facilities and professional charismatic staff. I can’t give it 5 stars because of the 19th hole. Overcooked food, I would never serve, and the beer arrived midway through the meal. When I return to play, I’ll slum it with fast food in the car for after the round.
