On the west side of the Phoenix Valley tucked up in the hills is a Nicklaus Jr. designed course that is fun, well kept and a joy to your wallet! This course is part of a master planned community that has houses springing up all around. That’s the only negative, but that’s what a master plan does. Very solid warm up facilities before you start the round and then off to #1.
Not an overly difficult course, but that’s part of the appeal. Greens are well maintained Bermuda, and a number of holes have bunkers surrounding the greens making a proper approach paramount. On the back nine there are several hidden gullies which makes a local player or yardage guide helpful. Last three holes have significant elevation changes making the end of the round memorable. Small lounge for post round libations with an outside seating area, although the heat can drive you back inside. Overall, well worth the drive past the Indians/Reds spring training home and the Goodyear/Phoenix Airport boneyard with hundreds of aircraft recently taken out of service.

The Golf Club of Estrella was our fourth round in 4 days on our 2020 Arizona golf trip and in my opinion it was the best - the others being Longbow, Verrado (Founders) and Verrado (Victory). All the courses were excellent, but Estrella really stood out. The fairways were some of the best I've ever played on, the layout was challenging yet playable and the greens were fast and true. It was a great day (in the rain) and I will be back!

The golf cart ride is 16,000+ yards. The golf course is 6500+ yards. On a hole by hole basis the course is fine. It is also scenic. The course is in descent shape but management is not keeping up the steep flash designs of the bunkers. Bottom line in my opinion, a good day spoiled by a twisty, hill and turn filled cart ride. If you want to play golf in the traditional sense, their are a lot of better options in Arizona.

A well designed course that is scenic and challenging. Great golf facilities and professional charismatic staff. I can’t give it 5 stars because of the 19th hole. Overcooked food, I would never serve, and the beer arrived midway through the meal. When I return to play, I’ll slum it with fast food in the car for after the round.

We did not expect, for the amount we paid, to play a course was lined with homes, some of which are under (quite noisy construction). We really expected a much pretty location than we found here.

The designer seemed to have two major ideas - have a waste area of 150-175 yards in the from of most holes, and a waste area in front of many greens.
Since we are senior who ht drives of 150-180 yard, we ended up playing from the shortest tees. The greens were pretty fast.

The staff was friendly but we were very disappointed in the course. This is not a good course for high handicapped players. Very good to good players might like it better.

Holes 16-18 are much nice than 1-15. They are not lined by houses and they are scenic. The par 3 #17, as others have mentioned, is a very interesting hole.

The course is very pretty in November right after the reseed. It’s a desert course with some challenging holes that have beautiful views of the surrounding area. It is lined with homes but it is not a tight course.

Take your time and enjoy the signature hole ... 17.

They do have a grill that you can grab a sandwich or salad at.. you can call ahead so it’s ready for you. And there is a cart girl who does a great job of coming around. Also, cold water is available along the cart path. Have fun!! And stop at the patio when you finish!

This golf course is a very scenic place to play. It is maintained in excellent condition and challenging. The 17th hole194 yd. par 3 is a "signature hole" and very interesting. You need to play it to the right as everything slopes down to the left. And you need to hit the green. A lot of fun.

We played this course recently and I would rank it as one of if not the best one I've ever played. This is a desert course that is not as tough as it appears. The fairways are wide enough. Problems will occur if you roll the ball. We got range balls and golf for a really great price compared to some of the other courses we looked into. The web site said you will get a bag tag and divot repair tool, When we asked about them, the guy at the counter did not know what we were talking about. But we did get $10 voucher for the grill. The service there was excellent. The starter was very cordial and was all the employees we encountered. If you can stay out of the sand, you can score well. Play 18 from the back tees. Cool.

Golf Club of Estrella is fun to play. Summer rates help keep cost down. It is a challenging course but 4 or 5 tee boxes help depending on your index. Staff is great and the course layout adds to its beauty.

Usually come here for their happy hour, 4-7. Have great food such as chicken wings, street tacos chips and salsa just to name a few. Beer, wine, and mixed drinks are also available.
