Having returned today from the Feb 26 to March 4 Baja Whale and Wine tour, it is very easy to write an excellent review as not only the whale experience but everything from the itinerary, accommodations, meals, extra excursions etc were beyond our expectations. From Olinsser, a most pleasant driver who we're sure feels cleanliness is next to client safety while driving to our guide Bacho, made for a great trip. Bacho is so proud of his country and culture that his enthusiasm exudes and you can tell he loves his job. His knowledge and interest in the flora and fauna and the small group size enhanced the trip.
This was Truly A Closer Look and we highly recommend it!

Excellect tour. Our tour guide was Manuel and our driver was Ponchito and we couldn’t have asked for two better guys to share their country with us. Professionals the whole way. We were only 18 seniors on this trip and they catered to us 100% of the time. Our hotels were always clean, the meals well planned. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering going.

We are coming home tomorrow from an 8 day trip down the Baja of California to see, touch and interact with gray whales and their babies in Guerrero Negro, Mexico. It was an awesome trip and experience. Bacho López and driver Olinsser could not have provided a better experience. This is truly one of those bucket list things to do. All the hotels and meals were good to excellent. The coach is comfortable and kept spotless by Olinsser. Everything was seamless and we truly enjoyed every minute.

I have now been on 2 tours with A Closer Look tours. First a friend and I went to Copper Canyon. It was such an excellent trip. Our guide, Adele, took such good care of us. I have labeled it one of my best ever trips and I travel A LOT! This past November, several ladies and I traveled to see the Colonial Cities. This was 10 days of amazing images and sights. We had such a wonderful time. We saw so many small beautiful towns. I had no idea that Mexico had such beautiful mountains and scenery besides beach towns. Taxco was one of my favorite places. We were well taken care of by Bonifacio, our director. He was so much fun and very flexible. We all felt so safe in his hands. There were a total of 10 ladies on a big bus. So much comfort! And the hotels were all excellent. I'm ready to go back! Now we've booked another trip with them, Whales and Wine tour. Can't wait to go next month! Adele is leading us again.

We just complete a bus tour from Tucson, AZ to Copper Canyon Mexico with stops in San Carlos, Alamos, El Fuerte, Copper Canyon and Casas Grande, Mexico. I usually dislike large bus tours, but this one was excellent. Our tour guide Edel and bus driver Ponchita were awesome. Edel was very knowledgeable and personable. He was always handy when anyone had questions or needed help. This tour was very well organized and felt safe at all times. We stayed in quaint haciendas and nice hotels. All meals & lodging were included. Also included was the stunning train ride on El Chepe into Copper Canyon. We learned lots of interesting history/culture for the region. I highly recommend this company if this tour was any example of their service.

Oh my my.. what a wonderful tour. Who would have thought you could have a group of 18 folks from their 20’s to 80’s be put together for such a wonderful week. Our tour guide Ivan was top notch. Since he lived in Oaxaca, the personal stories, history and culture he shared with us; gave us a real appreciation of the customs in the area, and the Day of Dead celebration. The accommodations and food were great. The itinerary was amazing. Taking us from the old to the new; learning customs, and age-old traditions. I would highly recommend this tour for a week of adventure, learning and meeting wonderful new people from all over.

Our 55+ community of Saddlebrooke, in tucson AZ offered (2) 8-night/9-day bus trips in March and April of 2023 featuring Mexico’s beautiful Copper Canyon. My wife and I took the 2nd bus trip in April. From the front office (Thelma & Cindy) to our tour guides (Juan and Batcho) I give them all 5 stars (out of 5). It was very well organized, and a fun adventure deep into Mexico’s northern states. However, both tours of 27 & 28 folks, respectively, contracted the Norovirus (often referred to as stomach flu). Coincidence? Preventable? Like Covid, no one knows how or where they contracted the virus. Norovirus can cause sudden vomiting, diarrhea, plus cramps, fatigue, and low-grade fever for usually 1-3 days. Per AZ Dept Of Health (CDC, NIH) “People are most contagious from the beginning of the illness until a couple of days after they feel better.”
Norovirus is usually caused from eating/drinking contaminated food or water. And it is EXTREMELY contagious. My complaint is that there were NO protocols, or education before or during the trip about Norovirus. Even after so many folks got it on the 1st Saddlebrooke bus trip in late March. For example, we were not told that hand sanitizer and Lysol are useless. That only 20+ seconds of washing hands with soap and water kills the virus/spread after using the bathroom, or vomiting. Nor were infected folks told how to avoid infecting 27/28 fellow travelers, the driver and tour guide while sharing a bus, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tours. Moreover, if an infected person used the bus bathroom (as they did on our ride home), there was no bleach solution available for the tour guide to effectively kill/sanitize the entire bathroom and surrounding areas.

While I somehow escaped the virus, my wife was not so fortunate. She contracted it in the middle of the night on our 1st evening or early morning at home. BOTTOM LINE: This admittedly very well run and enjoyable/educational 9-day tour was not worth the cost of 3+ days of her misery and our isolation/quarantine.

A friend and I just returned from a tour to the Copper Canyon in Mexico with A Closer Look Tours. We weren't sure what to expect, as we had booked the tour through a third party, Kindred Tours of Gilbert, Arizona. To our great delight, this tour to Copper Canyon with A Closer Look Tours exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide, Juan Leon, was a consummate professional, seeing to every detail and going above and beyond to provide everyone with an exceptional experience. The accommodations were always clean and the meals were excellent. We had entertainment nearly every night and were provided a wealth of information and insight into the historical and cultural aspects of the many places we visited. The highlight for me was our introduction to the Raramuri/Taramuhara people who inhabit the area within the massive Barrancas del Cobre - Copper Canyon.

Thank you for traveling with us and the kind review. Big thanks to our friends at Kindred Tours as well for helping you find us. Happy to hear you enjoyed yourself while traveling with Juan to the Copper Canyon. Sharing the culture of the Raramuri people has been one of our greatest pleasures over the years. We hope to see you again in the future and continue to share our love of Mexico.

We booked the Guadalajara to Mexico City Colonial tour during Day of the Dead which made it that much more FUN! They allow you to customize your trip if you want to stay later too. Lots of extras included, nice hotels, the guide and bus driver exceptional.
