The SupUrban Farm is a 1.25 acre family co-op that hosts five families working together to provide much of their own, natural food. The owners, Bob & Sheri, obtain about 75% of their diet from the land. So what do we do? We aim to be a model of sustainability and self-sufficiency, using permacultural concepts. We believe that nature provides near-perfect resources and systems, so we incorporate and simulate nature as much as possible. We raise a year-round garden that includes raised and ground beds, edible landscape plants, and aquaponic beds (which provide tilapia as a bonus!). In addition, we have fruit and nut trees throughout the front 1/2 acre. In the back 1/2 acre our Jersey cows give us the sweetest, creamy milk. From this milk we make our own butter, sour cream, and, of course, ice cream! Most of the year we also have a couple doe-eyed calves frolicking around and a menagerie of chickens. Depending on the season, we may have pigs, turkeys, rabbits, or other livestock. As an educational farm, we offer classes in aquaponics, gardening, cheesemaking, small animal processing, solar cooking, and many more on a seasonal basis. The farm is a work in progress. Future plans include water harvesting, beehives, and construction of a caretaker's quarters. Tours are also seasonal. We are closed in the summer, but open from fall through spring. Please see our website for more information.

Basically a school lunchroom experience. The food was average but the portions were ample. No waiters or waitresses. You order at a window like a Dairy Queen and 15 minutes later they bring your food out. Plastic knives, forks, and spoons. Coffee was good but soft drinks and condiments were outside. Very peculiar along a wall? Severely lacking in ambiance, very... More
