We were pleasantly surprised. Nice trails. I liked how the flora was identified and where it can be found throughout the state. I could not rate it "Excellent" because we found a few dead fish and a dead turtle floating in the lake.

This is one of the gems of the desert. A quiet, peaceful oasis in the desert. Walking paths throughout the park are great for bikes, walking or taking your four-legged friend out for jaunt. The variety of water fowl is tremendous. Bonus points for the Southeast Library that looks out onto the lake.

We take the pup here for walks- she loves to go around the pond which is paved and the gravel trails are nice too, I just wish they had more signage since it can be confusing. So close to our house and always lots of people enjoying the outdoors.

Riparian Preserve is a huge park/recreation area right in corporated Gilbert. It is nice that it is a hiking area close to Gilbert residents so we don't have to drive out to the mountain trails.

If into birding, the Water Ranch Preserve is a great place to go in the midst of the town. There are 7 shallow lake / ponds for water reclamation/percolation back into the ground. Each pond has well maintained wide pathways encircling each lake. The main lake by the library is always full and presents many opportunities to see various water... More

Great place to see waterfowl in the winter time. Herons, ducks, geese and shorebirds. They allow camping if you contact the city ahead of time. Small fishing pond. Next to the community library. In the winter they open up the telescope on Friday evenings from sunset to 9 pm.

There is nothing really exciting to see here, it loops around a few lakes (some are dry at times) and one big lake by the library. You can catch a nice sunset off in the distance if you go at sunset. I go here sometimes to work off that extra ice cream cone and just relax and get some exercise.... More

Visited last September with my daughter who is an avid bird watcher. It was a wonderful day. We did see many varieties of birds as we walked all of the nature trails going through the maze of at least 8 ponds. The are barbecue/picnic areas and play areas for the kids. There is also an observatory with a telescope for... More

This is my go to place for a quiet walk in nature without having to leave town. It is open sunrise to sundown. And all trails lead back to the parking lot -- check out a different one each time you go (trails begin near the Dino pit on the east of the green area). The vegetation is wonderful and... More

A truly great place for a quiet walk. You can tailor make your own route from the trails available. A great place for families with young children, couples of any age, families after a holiday meal, or joggers. Great place to see Burrowing Owls, bunnies, jack rabbits, ducks, geese, and many other small animals in the wild. There is also... More
