About
Flying Leap Vineyards & Distillery is a committed team of southern Arizona family farmers, talented winemakers, skilled distillers and passionate merchants of the Arizona Wine Country experience. We grow a vast portfolio of winegrapes on our ranches in southern & southeastern Arizona, and we produce a delicious array of finely-crafted, ultra premium wines and distilled spirits from our harvests. Flying Leap's Elgin facility is a working winery and distillery. Our wines express the unique terroir of our vineyards and are showpieces of the craft, skills and patience of our winemakers. We have spacious, beautifully-manicured gardens and patios for picnicking, as well as two comfortable, accommodating & air-conditioned interior tasting rooms. Our property is pet-friendly, and the entire venue is handicapped-accessible with two paved handicapped parking spaces. Our staff is knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming.

Beautiful venue and friendly staff
Sep 2021 • Friends
Lovely outside areas to sit and relax and take in the views. The winery staff was friendly and very helpful including giving us a wine trail map and recommendations! They were out of whites so we only were able to taste reds which aren’t my personal fave, but there were some really tasty ones!!

We had a mixed experience.
Aug 2021 • Couples
We had a mixed experience here. Nice venue in that it was modern and unique in that it had a wine vineyard/tasting room venue and a distillery/tasting room. The issue - to warn you- is if half your group wants to try one side of the building (eg taste wine), you can’t visit or be with the other half of your group drinking/tasting spirits! Also, our DD (designated driver aka not even drinking) dropped a glass as we was trying to carry 3 glasses with some tastes of wine to the table. Which begs the question… why were the staff not serving the tastes, and after it broke why did they jump to clean it up vs letting us do it? (I mean we offered to clean it up but really did not expect them to hand us the broom and dustpan. I do have to say it was 4:45 and they had a 4pm closing….but still - seems a tad poor form.
We did like the wine.
We did not really like the spirits.

Horribly expensive
Apr 2021 • Friends
It’s a nice facility but... Flying Leap is expensive. $22 for a tasting and then only $10 off “if” you buy a bottle. Also, the wine is no discount to the prices you would find in a restaurant in Tucson.
The server was more interested in talking to a coworker than moving us through the tasting.

Great wines with grapes you don’t always find
Feb 2021
Our visit was spontaneous, and we are so glad we stopped. The tasting was so well done — a half dozen to try, generous pours. The information on the wine and foods to pair it with was helpful (and not at all pretentious). Mostly reds, but the one white in the flight was superb. The story behind the name and the kitschy wine labels added to the fun.

Good Wine
Oct 2020
Flying Leap has both a distillery and the vineyard tasting room. The wines are good and they have improved the facilities over the years since we were there before. The wines are a little pricy along the lines of California but they are good.

Lovely Vineyard
Oct 2020
We stopped for a tasting - they have a lovely place - inside and outside seating - staff wearing masks and distancing was observed by everyone. The wines were lovely - we bought some to take home. From the first white to the dessert wine even the bonus taste was lovely. The host was very knowledgeable as well. It would have been nice however if there was some nibble - cheese or meat plat available for lunch time.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback, and we are glad you enjoyed your visit to Flying Leap. Due to Santa Cruz county's health licensing restrictions, we are very limited in our ability to provide food service at our winery property. We wish it weren't so. Our compromise has been to provide our guests with picnic accommodations, which allows them to bring their own food items to the property to enjoy. There is discussion among our county's administrators, zoning and health departments to develop new licensing to allow Santa Cruz county wineries to provide food service, and we hope to be able to provide food service soon. We recently participated in a study commissioned by the Santa Cruz county administrators to assess wine country commerce and develop strategies for growth, and one of the many specific inputs we provided to the interviewers was the issue of limited food service capacity at wineries, and the county's leadership was very receptive to the inputs, and we hope this drives the kind of change we seek to allow us to better serve our guests and enhance their visits to our area.

Fabulous Flying Leap Wine and Spirits!
Jul 2020
Every time I tasted a different Flying Leap vintage or varietal, I exclaimed, "Now this one is my favorite!" I guess they're all my favorites. At home, it is a pleasure to serve Flying Leap wines to my guests. At a recent cocktail party, I crafted margaritas with Flying Leap Arancello and it was a hit. Elgin's vintner graciously explained basic winemaking to me and the knowledgable and kind sommelier kept pace with all the patrons' pours. My experience at the Flying Leap Tasting Rooms in Elgin and Tubac was nothing short of delightful.

My Favorite for wines and spirits.
Jul 2020 • Couples
This is a MUST STOP when in Elgin Arizona if you are a lover of wines and / or spirits. The history of these three friends getting together to produce wines is wonderful, and explains their Logo. We are never disappointed with their blends or full body wines. Their attention to detail has helped them grow but they still have full control over what we get to enjoy in the glass. A perfect location for a Wedding !

WE will be back!
Jun 2020
OK, we just stumbled upon Flying Leap Vineyards and Distillery. We practically drove off the road due to the lavender field and old truck in the drive. This place is fabulous! Worth a drive from Phoenix! It's well-appointed, neat as a pin, clean and the staff are some of the best vineyard hosts we have had (and we have been to all sorts of wine regions).

The distiller is a must-do and every "hummingbird" sip is fantastic. The spirits are earthy, aromatic, and full of flavor.

WE will be back!

Love this experience it's always fun and exceptional
May 2020 • Couples
This winery gives you one of the best experiences in Arizona. It's my 5th visit and always one to look forward to. With an always changing mix of wine, which is a primary reason to come, there is also a comprehensive number of spirit offerings. We bought a wide array !! Orange Liquor was new this time, among several others. We had fun and the wines and spirits were excellent. We bought those little tasting glasses too for tasting g with friends at home. Looking forward to another trip here, soon, with my friends. Thank you for top notch service and the experience, and your excellent with e and spirits.
Waiting for your cookbook offering! To help us utilize some of your wonderful offerings as, in recipes, and yo consume with a good meal.
