Great Disc course. I probably throw this at least once a week. I will admit that the course could be better marked and there could be a map at the the beginning. But things as they are, if you can figure it out, (hint, first tee is on the other side of the hockey rink from the parking lot) it is fun and challenging to throw. The front 9 or 10 are in trees and have fun, shaded, alley shots. Not really tight though. The back side. Bring your arm. Some are fairly long and a little less technical. A little more exposed with very little shade. Overall I think this is one of my favorite courses that I've thrown in Arizona. Side note, check for goat heads before getting into your car. This course seems to have quite a few.

Riverfront Park is Cottonwood’s largest park. The main area includes five ramadas with picnic tables, a barbecue, two sand volleyball courts, a large swing set, a five-court horseshoe pit and a grassy area for field games. Two children’s play apparatus are available. One is for 5 to 12-year-olds and the other is perfect for the little hands and feet of 2 to 5-year-olds.

Other amenities included at the park are a four-field adult softball field complex, a skateboard park, an in-line hockey rink, and an 18-tee Disc Golf Course. A four-field youth ball complex is located on 10th Street.

The Cottonwood Riverfront Dog Park is located to the west of the youth complex. This is a 1 1/3-acre facility with 3 areas for dogs to enjoy: a small and shy dog area for dogs under 25 pounds, a large dog area for all others and a training/discipline area available for dog obedience training, K9 Law Enforcement training and other classes. Please review the posted rules and be prepared to observe them or to report violators. The enjoyment of the park is directly related to the observance of the rules. Rules are enforced by the Cottonwood Police Department.

Some of these amenities may be reserved for private activities. Rental fees and cleaning deposits are required on all reservations.

This park borders Dead Horse Ranch and the Verde River. It has a skate park, picnic tables , frisbee golf course, and playground equipment. There are trails for walking and biking. A nice family park.

I had visited Cottonwood a couple of times in the past. I am presently staying very near there for a three month stint. I like to find the local dog parks to take my canine companion so she can let off some steam and get her exercise.

This is a nice park. It has plenty of room in the big/active dog section, and surely enough in the small/passive dog section. Lots of friendly local people who appear to be regulars, and many friendly active dogs. It's pretty well kept up, with lots of recycled store bags in the mailboxes for poop scooping. Unfortunately January 2017, when I've been here has been a record month for rainfall, so it's been pretty muddy, but that's certainly not the park manager's fault.

It's also very close to Dead Horse State Park, so you tourists can bring your traveling companions there to unwind and play for an hour or two.

The Cottonwood Skate Park

The Cottonwood Skate Park is a place that’s filled with a mass amount of chaos and energy. The smell is pungent with Ax deodorant and weed. Everything looks very frightening, with giant drop-ins and big ramps. But no matter how bad it smells like weed or sweat, skaters can't help but go because it seems like there is nothing in this world that gives people the adrenaline rush and fear that skating at the Skate Park does; it is the best way to clear your mind and forget about all your problems everyone should try out skating at least once in their life because it is well worth the sacrifices.
So, what makes Cottonwood Skate Park intimidating and scary? One of the things is injuries; people can get the worst injuries from just skating in general, but at the Cottonwood skate park, there are many scary Drop-ins. It all depends on how ambitious people are and how far they want to push their skating limits. When you start skating at the skate park, it's not about if people fall, but when they fall. When somebody is just starting as a skater, they will want to improve and succeed in improving their skills; the way to achieve this is to do each trick repeatedly until they get it perfect.
So, why would people go to the Cottonwood Skatepark? A set goal for many people is good; skating does that for many. The act of doing something repeatedly over again until you get it perfect can be gratifying, primarily when a trick is accomplished. Skating can even help you face your fears and overcome them. Skating at the skatepark can also help you overcome many problems, such as social anxiety, because people must skate in front of people and not care what other people think; it also is suitable for learning new things, and that’s what skating is all about. Skating is about learning new tricks and teaching your brain to work differently.
It requires much energy and can raise your heart rate.
In conclusion, skating at the Cottonwood Skate Park or your local skate park is the best way to get out of your house and enjoy life; it also helps you clear your mind. It is good overall exercise and helps your brain learn new things because you’ll never get the same adrenaline boost from anything else. However, there are some negative aspects of skating, such as potential injuries and the fear of starting something new

Lots of area to 'social distance' in this covid-19 world. The parking area is large enough to accommodate quite a few vehicles.

Walked awhile on the Jail Trail. We never did see the river, but maybe we went the wrong way? Not very interesting, but I did see several trees with their Fall Foliage, so that made it better! The trail was a bit rocky but flat, so it was an easy walk. Parking on the main street in a lot by the trail entrance was easy as well.
