This is an outdoor range that is NOT staffed--no range officers. So it's up to you to declare a cease fire so that you can setup your targets. You must bring everything that you'll need to shoot, target stands, target, chairs, ammo and refreshments---you'll need some water as it gets HOT here during the Summer. This is a free range = no cost to shoot here.
The road leading into the range is paved for a short distance, then it's a dirt road. The condition of the road depends upon traffic. It can get bumpy so do not drive a low riding vehicle into this area. Standard cars and pickup trucks are best.
There is no restroom at this location other than a portable restroom. Bring soap and water for washing up after shooting and restroom use.
The distance on the range is marked by a small cement marker, set into the ground, on both sides of the lanes
I've found this range to be clean with some areas of shade. There is no restroom other than a portable "outhouse", so bring soap and water. This range is excellent for pistol and rifles up to .50 cal. The pistol ranges are about 50 yards while the rifle ranges reach beyond 125 yards. Great for shooting steel targets.

This is a free UN-STAFFED outdoor firing range. Your safety depends upon you watching those around you. On December 29 around 2PM we arrived at the Casa Grande Public Range. Not crowded but enough shooters present. Crease fire work well for everyone to set their targets. I looked at the person to our right as she was having problems with her pistol. Her husband in a wheelchair took the firearm from her to check into the problem. He pointed that firearm down the line of shooters for a second or so. Ok, I figured an error but when he did it again, I spoke to him. I suggested that he keep that firearm pointed DOWN RANGE all the time. He didn't like that but all of us must be safe when at any firearm range. I spoke softly to him as yelling might have cause a another issue. Be safe and watch those around you!

Love this range. Free. Road is now paved out to it. Nice seperate areas to shoot. You provide your own targets, ammo and guns. There is nothing to setup targets on. We use boxes or home depot Buckets.

This is a city run range that offers several areas for your handgun and rifle practice. There are concrete tables available for your shooting rest, however you'll need to provide your own chair(s). The center range offers a bench area behind the firing line to store your gear while there. There is also space on the concrete pad to lay out shooting mats for prone firing position practice. There are markers along the lanes to show your distances and the main range goes out to 300 yards.
There are no range safety personnel on site, so it is necessary to coordinate with other shooters for when the range is "hot" and "clear" for target placement. You'll need to provide your own targets and stands for this range. It's a good idea to have water with you on this range as it heats up quickly even though there is shade from the overhead cover. Portable toilets are available on site as well.
Be prepared for a couple of miles of dirt road off of the main road leading in to the range. It is maintained and graded regularly, but still has the washboard surface in spots.

Nice area with some overhead shelters to protect you from the Arizona sunshine. Plenty of room for chairs and your own portable tables. Some stations have mounted shooting tables, others do not. First come first served. We were there on a Tuesday and it was kind of busy, so we waited until someone finished and took their place. Shooters work together to assure safety of all. No supervision so one meathead could create a real problem. NO ALCOHOL. Police shooting range next door so there could be assistance if needed.

All the people that use this gun range are courteous and respectful. The City of Casa Grande has used funding in an excellent manner in this facility. I saw a really poor review of this on ABC 15 that couldn't have been a worse presentation. This is a very safe venue and I hope it remains the way it is. Thank you City of Casa Grande.

Great way to spend a day outdoors on the gun range. Bring water, chairs, ear protection, targets. Shade and tables are here. Very busy on Sunday afternoon, but everyone was really chill and professional.

Considering this is a free city park I have loads of fun here. The best time to get there is in the morning as it’s cooler. The snowbird months can get a little hectic though. Decent lanes and covered tables. You need to bring your on targets and be sure to clean up after yourself. The price is right and how many cities in this day and age of a shooting range. Very lucky to have it.

Thsi is a great place to get away to go and unload, literally!!! I have friends whom live in Casa Grande and we go out to this range as often as possible. It has 3 sections to it and if I remember there is a police and sherrifs range right next door (in the desert) There usually is no range master present so you need to police yourself on safety. This also allows you to bring a variety of weapons that would not normally be alllowed because of those restrictions, and it is not uncommon to see people whith large numbers of weapons here. Every time I have gone there I have seen some guns I have ever seen before but the mojority of the people are very pleasant, because of this I have been allowed to fire these guns and become familiar with them. If I could remember names I would thank them but I dont.
When you come here you will have a great time . .just make sure you do so responsibly!!

Thanks for your review. Is the road paved all the way to the site? And, do you happen to know of any other free shooting ranges further north near Scottsdale?
Thanks!

Is there any low light, night time shooting allowed?

I do not recall any posted hours for the range. As long as the gate is open I believe you should be able to use the range. Exercise appropriate caution at all times for your safety and the safety of any others that may be nearby. . .
Do you have to be over 18 & over?

Good question. I have never seen any young people shooting there by themselves, but have seen several in company of older people. Might call the park rangers office
(520)421-8277. Good luck and happy safe shooting.
what days and hours are open to shooting?

I believe you can begin shooting at 7 a.m. but I'm not sure when it closes. You should call the range at 520) 421-8677.
